Latest Bollywood Box Office Report: Adah Sharma’s new release ‘The Kerala Story’ has minted Rs 35 crore during its opening weekend.
Adah Sharma’s latest film ‘The Kerala Story’, which opened to underwhelming reviews, seems to be striking a chord with the audience as the new Hindi movie registered a good first weekend at the domestic box office. The new Hindi Bollywood movie, also starring Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani and Sonia Balani in the lead roles, minted Rs 35.25 crore during its opening weekend. Its collection is already better than Akshay Kumar’s ‘Selfiee’ and Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Shehzada’.
Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office collection of ‘The Kerala Story’ on Twitter.

In the latest Bollywood box office news, according to Taran Adarsh, the new Hindi movie collected Rs 8.03 crore on Friday.
‘The Kerala Story’ witnessed a significant jump in its box office collection on Saturday and Sunday, minting Rs 11.22 crore and Rs 16 crore, respectively.
It is worth mentioning that ‘The Kerala Story’ managed to make Rs 35 crore during its opening weekend despite facing tough competition from the Marvel film ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ and the IPL 2023.
It remains to be seen how Adah Sharma’s latest outing ‘The Kerala Story’ will perform this week.
While the latest Bollywood movie is performing well at the domestic box office, it continues to remain controversial as several people have hit out at its subject matter.
However, veteran actress Shabana Azmi recently tweeted in support of ‘The Kerala Story’, saying once a movie has been passed by CBFC, it should not be banned.
Taking to Twitter, Shabana Azmi wrote, "Those who speak of banning #The Kerala Story are as wrong as those who wanted to ban Aamir Khan’s #Laal Singh Chaadha. Once a film has been passed by the Central Board of Film Certification nobody has the right to become an extra constitutional authority."
Ever since the trailer of ‘The Kerala Story’ was released, the movie has been embroiled in a controversy regarding the subject matter it is trying to portray. The trailer originally stated that the film is based on the stories of more than 32,000 Kerala women who have allegedly been radicalised by Islamic fundamentalists.
However, amid huge backlash, the makers changed the trailer synopsis, and the revised version stated that the film is based on the “true stories of three young girls from different parts of Kerala.”
'The Kerala Story' has been directed by Sudipto Sen, while it is bankrolled by Vipul Amrutlal Shah.
