Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor Team Up For New Rom-Com ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’. Release Date Revealed
Karan Johar is coming up with another love story titled ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’. The film will feature ‘Bawaal’ co-stars Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor.
Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, who previously shared screen space in the 2023 Hindi movie ‘Bawaal’, are reuniting for a new rom-com titled ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’. The upcoming Bollywood movie will be directed by Shashank Khaitan. The filmmaker-writer has worked with Varun Dhawan in the hit ‘Dulhania’ film series including ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ and ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’, co-starring Alia Bhatt. Shashank Khaitan is also reuniting with Janhvi Kapoor, having collaborated with her in ‘Dhadak’, which marked her acting debut.
Taking to Instagram, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions shared an announcement video and revealed the release date as April 18, 2025.

As per several reports, the upcoming rom-com is touted to be a part of the ‘Dulhania’ franchise. While a section of the internet is thrilled with Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor's pairing in the film, others not so much.
Alia Bhatt’s name popped up in the comments section incessantly. One social media user wrote, “Looks like it was conceptualized as Dulhania 3 but changed it so people don't complain.”
Another one commented, “Nope not accepting this film....where's Alia?”
One user said, “No hate but there's no dulhania movie without alia.”
“Yaar Alia ko lao yaar with Varun!!! No hate to Jahnvi but we need Varia back,” another comment read.
Another user said, “As if bawaal wasn't big enough a disappointment… what's up with the casting directors man why is it so hard to cast a pair that actually compliments each other. this is getting damn boring, bollywood.”
A user questioned, “Why not Varun- Alia and the dhulaniya series?”
“Varun & Janvi Ok but Varun & Alia Mind-blowing,” another comment read.
Before announcing the film, Varun Dhawan had teased his Instagram followers writing, “Since there's been so many announcements of what I am doing and what's the title of one of films, get ready to be proved right or wrong?”
His post came after there were rumours that his next film is the third part of the ‘Dulhania’ movie series.
In the film, Varun Dhawan will essay the role of Sunny Sanskari, while Janhvi Kapoor will portray Tulsi Kumari. It is jointly produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Shashank Khaitan.
The film's music will be composed by Pritam and lyrics will be penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.
Meanwhile, Varun and Janhvi had first collaborated for 'Bawaal', which released in 2023. The romantic drama was directed by Nitesh Tiwari.
