Vikramaditya Motwane Recalls How He Was Almost Asked To "Get Out" Of Akshay Kumar's Office
Vikramaditya Motwane has revealed how he wanted to cast Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar in 'AK vs AK'.
Director Vikramaditya Motwane is garnering praises from all corners for his latest web series 'Jubilee' which released on Prime Video earlier this month. In the latest entertainment news, the filmmaker has revealed how he had first wanted to hire Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar for his previous project 'AK vs AK' which starred Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap in lead roles. In 'AK vs AK', Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap had played fictionalised versions of themselves.
The director has now recalled how he was almost asked to leave Akshay Kumar's office when he approached him for the movie.
"Writer Avinash Sampat, who’s now become a good friend of mine, sent the script to us. He'd written it for Aamir [Khan] first. I was sure Aamir is never gonna do it, so let's not even try," Vikramaditya Motwane said in an interview with Mid-Day.
"There is Akshay Kumar, who we did approach, and it was a very interesting meeting - I mean, he didn't sort of outrightly say, ‘Get out of my office,’ but it was close enough! For a while, I was making it with Shahid [Kapoor], which kind of happened, and then it didn't. The [actor] AKs kept changing. The [director] AK, that is Anurag Kashyap, was a constant. He’s a fantastic actor," he added.
In 'AK vs AK', Anurag Kashyap kidnapped Anil Kapoor's daughter Sonam Kapoor, and sends the actor on a hunt to track her down.
In the movie, Boney Kapoor and Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor also featured in cameos.
Over the years, Motwane has helmed several successful projects like 'Sacred Games', 'Lootera', 'Udaan', 'Bhavesh Joshi Superhero' and now 'Jubilee'.
Talking about Akshay Kumar, the actor will be seen in upcoming Hindi Bollywood movies like 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan', 'Hera Pheri 3', 'OMG 2'.
'OMG 2' will star Yami Gautam and Pankaj Tripathi whereas 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' will star Tiger Shroff.
'Hera Pheri 3' will see Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty reuniting after many years. Sanjay Dutt will also be playing an important role in the film.
