Salman Khan's 'Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan' Enters Rs 100 Crore Club; 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' Mints Rs 80 Crore In India
'Ponniyin Selvan 2' is off to a good start at the domestic box office, and Salman Khan's 'Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ka Jaan' has finally crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in India.
Indian cinema is having a good time at the box office after 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' released last week, and it has sent the cash registers ringing. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, Mani Ratnam's epic collected Rs 30 crore on Sunday, and the three-day total currently stands at Rs 80 crore domestically. As per the Indian Express, the movie recorded 63.25 per cent Tamil occupancy in cinemas while the Hindi occupancy increased to 20 per cent on Sunday.
If one talks about the global box office collection, 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' has already crossed the Rs 100 crore mark.
Industry tracker Sacnilk also gave an update on the box office collection of Salman Khan's 'Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan'. The movie collected Rs 4.50 crore on Sunday and hence the domestic total now stands at Rs 100.30 crore.
As per the Indian Express, 'KKBKKJ' had only 16.77 per cent occupancy in the Hindi market on Sunday.
The collection of 'KKBKKJ' is relatively poor when one compares it to other releases of Salman Khan. For example, 'Dabangg 3' which had also opened to poor reviews, had a lifetime collection of Rs 230 crore. And if the trends are anything to go by, it looks unlikely that 'KKBKKJ' will touch the Rs 150 crore mark.
Talking about ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’, the action entertainer is directed by Farhad Samji and produced by Salman Khan Films.
The film stars Salman Khan, Venkatesh Daggubati, Pooja Hegde, Jagapathi Babu, Bhumika Chawla, Vijender Singh, Abhimanyu Singh, Raghav Juyal, Siddharth Nigam, Jassie Gill, Shehnaaz Gill, Palak Tiwari and Vinali Bhatnagar.
The new Hindi Bollywood movie has been bashed left, right and centre by critics, while the audience has given a mixed review to the latest Hindi movie, with some calling it "paisa vasool", while others have termed it as a "disaster".
Talking about 'PS 2', the movie stars Chiyaan Vikram, Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Parthiban, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Sobhita Dhulipala.
‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’, which became the highest-grossing movie of all time in Tamil Nadu, ended with a cliffhanger, which had Arulmozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi) and Vandhiyathevan (Karthi) being drowned in the sea after a face-off with Pandyas.
‘PS-1’, which enjoyed a successful run in cinemas, managed to gross Rs 335 crore in India and Rs 500 crore worldwide.
Based on the 1995 renowned novel series of Kalki Krishnamoorthy, ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ tells the fictionalised story of Raja Raja Cholan and his ascension to the crown. The first part revolved around the early life of Chola Prince Arulmozhi Varman.
