'Yodha' Preponed, Sidharth Malhotra-Starrer To Clash With Vijay Sethupathi-Katrina Kaif's 'Merry Christmas'

December 2023 is packed with many big film releases, from Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’ to Prabhas-starrer ‘Salaar’. Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi’s first collaboration, ‘Merry Christmas’, is also one of the movies set to hit theatres in December. While the Sriram Raghavan directorial was earlier set to release on December 15, it will now arrive in cinemas on December 8. The film’s new release date was announced by the makers earlier today. A while after the announcement of ‘Merry Christmas’ was made, Karan Johar also shared the new release date of his next production venture ‘Yodha’.
For the unversed, ‘Yodha’ was also previously scheduled to release on December 15, clashing with ‘Merry Christmas’. While fans thought the clash had been averted after ‘Merry Christmas’ was preponed, the box office clash is still very much on.
Taking to Instagram, Karan Johar wrote, “We are all set to land in cinemas on 8th December, 2023.”

This comes after Karan Johar had previously vented his frustration on Threads app, launching a scathing attack on the makers of Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi-starrer 'Merry Christmas'.
He had written, “Clashing on a date without the courtesy of a phone call is hopefully not the way forward for the studios and producers …. If we don’t stand united in these tough and challenging theatrical days then calling us a fraternity is futile."
Talking about ‘Yodha’, it stars Sidharth Malhotra in the lead role. The movie will also feature Disha Patani and Raashii Khanna.
Sidharth Malhotra’s ‘Yodha’ has been postponed multiple times. The film was first scheduled to release on November 11, 2022, post that the makers pushed the release date to July 7, 2023.
September 15 2023 was locked as the new release date for ‘Yodha’ after several delays. However, the film got delayed once again, setting December 15, 2023 as the new release date.
‘Yodha’, an action thriller, is set against the backdrop of an airplane hijack. The film marks the directorial debut of Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha, and is expected to be yet another gripping tale of protagonist fighting against all odds for a larger cause.
‘Yodha’ is a collaboration between Amazon Prime Video and Dharma Productions, in association with Mentor Disciple Films. Its produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Shashank Khaitan.
Meanwhile, ‘Merry Christmas has been shot in two languages -- Hindi and Tamil. ‘Merry Christmas’ is Sriram Raghavan's first film since the National award-winning ‘Andhadhun’ (2018) starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu and Radhika Apte.
Besides Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, the Hindi version of ‘Merry Christmas’ will also star Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan, and Tinnu Anand. Meanwhile, the Tamil version has Radhika Sarathkumar, Shanmugaraja, Kevin Jay Babu, and Rajesh Williams.
Reportedly, the crime thriller will revolve around an uneventful day that turns Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi’s worlds upside down. It is about an event that takes place on Christmas Eve.
