While some people trolled the Bollywood star for his lack of character representation and the absence of Shivaji’s physicality and aura, adding that Sharad Kelkar portrayed the character better in the 2020 Bollywood movie ‘Tanhaji’.

Others trolled the director of the movie, Mahesh Manjrekar, for the creative liberty that he and the crew seem to have taken while designing the set.

One Twitter user wrote, "Our Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj lived between 1630 to 1680. The electric light Bulb came in about 1880 two hundred years later ! This is not even creative liberty- it's just lazy film making & terrible that there is such disregard for facts in a film as important as this one."

Several netizens shared similar reactions to the first look video.

‘Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat’ will tell the story of seven valiant warriors who fought hard to turn Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s dream of Swarajya into reality.

The film will arrive in cinemas around Diwali 2023 and will be released in Marathi, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
