'The Big Bang Theory' is now in the middle of a huge controversy in India and the chain of events unfolded after political analyst Mithun Vijay Kumar sent a legal notice to streaming giant Netflix over an episode of the uber-popular show. The political analyst has claimed that a particular episode saw one actor using derogatory language against Madhuri Dixit. For the unversed, in the particular episode, actor Kunal Nayyar is seen comparing Madhuri with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The episode was first released in 2008. While comparing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan with Madhuri Dixit, Jim Parsons' character calls Aishwarya "a poor man's Madhuri Dixit."
To this, Nayyar's character says: "Aishwarya Rai is a goddess, by comparison, Madhuri Dixit is a leprous prostitute.”
Now, actress and Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bachchan has responded to the controversy. Speaking to The Times of India, she said: "Is this man (Kunal Nayyar) insane? Badi gandi zubaan hai. He needs to be sent to mental asylum. His family should be asked what they think of his comment.”
Speaking to the same publication, actress Urmila Matondkar said: "What?! I have no idea about the whole episode, so I shouldn’t be commenting. But if it is true, it is beyond outrageous. It shows their extremely cheap mentality. Do they really think this is humorous?”
On the other hand, 'Bheed' actress Dia Mirza said: "It is disrespectful and distasteful.”
In his legal notice, Mithun Vijay Kumar has asked Netflix to remove the first episode of season 2 of 'The Big Bang Theory'.
