Like any other year, 2022 saw a number of Bollywood celebrities tie the knot despite the COVID-19 pandemic that was in full swing along with the social distancing rules and other protocols in place. And for the longest time, Bollywood celebrity weddings have been trendsetters, serving as ultimate fashion inspiration or setting new goals by breaking away from the stereotypes.
From flooding our social media feeds with dreamy pictures to setting major couple goals, this year’s Bollywood weddings were a treat for the sore eyes. Let’s revisit the Bollywood weddings that became the talk of the town in 2022.
1. Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor: Hands-down the biggest Bollywood wedding of the year! The ‘Brahmastra’ co-stars tied the knot in an intimate ceremony with close friends and family members in attendance. They got hitched on the balcony of their Mumbai home, Vastu, on April 14.
2. Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar: The much-in-love couple exchanged wedding vows in a private ceremony at Farhan’s father’s farmhouse in Khandala on February 19. Actors Hrithik Roshan, Rhea Chakraborty, Dino Morea were among the Bollywood celebrities that attended the wedding festivities.
3. Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal: Although the celebrity sweethearts have been legally married since 2020, the two celebrated their union with nearly week-long festivities. Richa and Ali tied the knot on October 4 with friends and family members in attendance. They also hosted wedding receptions in Lucknow, Delhi and Mumbai.
4. Mouni Roy and Suraj Nambiar: Actress Mouni Roy got married to her partner, a businessman from Dubai, Suraj Nambiar on January 27 in Goa. The wedding ceremonies were conducted in Bengali and Malayali traditions.
5. Vikrant Massey and Sheetal Thakur: The Bollywood couple, after dating for nearly seven years, said their ‘I Dos’ in front of friends and family members in Himachal Pradesh.
The wedding ceremony was held at Sheetal's Shahatali ancestral home on February 18.
