“Don’t Mess With India’s…”: In Parliament, TMC MP Praises Shah Rukh Khan And ‘Pathaan’ Makers

‘Pathaan’ has been a resounding success at the box office.

‘Pathaan’ has been a resounding success, and Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback as a film lead after four years, has been lapped up by his loyal fans and others as well. However, before the release of the ‘Pathaan’ movie, the film was mired in controversies with certain groups opposing some of the costumes worn by Deepika Padukone, especially in the song ‘Besharam Rang’. Despite calls for boycotting the movie, ‘Pathaan’ broke every record on its way to becoming a blockbuster hit. The ‘Pathaan’ movie and its superstars SRK, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham were showered with love and became the talk of the town.

So much so that the movie and its success was in spoken about during a parliament session. Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Derek O’Brien, was all praise for ‘Pathaan’ makers and its star cast, saying “what we couldn’t do, Shah Rukh Khan, Dimple Kapadia and John Abraham have shown this country”.

“Well done (director) Siddharth Anand, well done India’s biggest global ambassadors. Well done those of you who made ‘Pathaan’. What we couldn’t do, Shah Rukh Khan, Dimple Kapadia and John Abraham have shown this country,” he said.

“We learn from them. Don’t mess with India’s biggest global ambassadors. You asked them to boycott Bollywood, they showed you one film with a beautiful message,” added the TMC MP during his speech in the parliament.

‘Pathaan’ has raked in the moolah at the box office by the bucketful. At the Indian box office, ‘Pathaan’ has already collected upwards of Rs 400 crore -- Rs 438 crore across all languages to be exact.

It beat ‘Bahubali 2’ to become the faster movie in Hindi to enter the Rs 400 crore club.
