Kangana Ranaut Calls Out “Nepo Mafia” After Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor Win Dadasaheb Phalke Awards

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, known for her bold and often inflammatory statements, is once again making headlines after releasing her own list of “deserving” winners. Unless you have been living under a rock, you must be aware of how much Kangana Ranaut is against the concept of nepotism in the entertainment industry. She never leaves a chance to pass a comment on it, and yet again, Kangana Ranaut called out “nepo mafia” for “snatching away” awards from the “deserving talent”.

Taking to her Twitter handle, Kangana took a dig at star kids taking home top honours after the winners of the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2023 were announced on Monday.

Kangana Ranaut, who never shies away from speaking her mind, did not mince her words while expressing her dissent at the stars who won recently. The winners included names like Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Ranbir Kapoor.

Kangana Ranaut, in her own awards list, wrote that Rishab Shetty deserved the Best Actor award for his role in ‘Kantara’ whereas Mrunal Thakur should have won the Best Actress for ‘Sita Ramam’. 

She further declared SS Rajamouli the Best Director for ‘RRR’, and Tabu the Best Supporting Actress for ‘Drishyam 2’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’.

Towards the end, the ‘Queen’ actress also added a note saying that Bollywood awards are a “sham” and will make a list of all those artists who are “deserving” when will find time from her schedule.

On Monday, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt won the Best Actor and Best Actress award at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2023, respectively. While Alia won for her powerful performance in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, Ranbir won for playing the lead in ‘Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’. Varun Dhawan also won the Critics Best Actor award for his performance in ‘Bhediya’.

Meanwhile, ‘The Kashmir Files’ won Best Film, ‘RRR’ won the Film Of The Year and Vidya Balan was awarded Critics Best Actress for ‘Jalsa’.

Talking about Kangana Ranaut on the work front, she has multiple projects lined up. 

The actress will be seen in her upcoming film ‘Emergency’, in which she stars as former Prime Minster Indira Gandhi. Kangana is also directing the film.

Kangana Ranaut will also be seen in ‘Chandramukhi 2’, a sequel to Rajinikanth's Tamil blockbuster. 

She also has ‘Tejas’ and Pradeep Sarkar-directed biopic on ‘Noti Binodini’. She's also producing ‘Tiku Weds Sheru’, starring Avneet Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
