Late singer Lata Mangeshkar has been featured in Rolling Stone's 'The 200 Greatest Singers of All Time' List. In the list, the legendary singer is placed at the 84th spot. She is sharing space in the list alongside Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Michael Jackson , Elton John, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Beyonce. In the list, Beyonce is at the eighth spot while Mariah Carey is at the fifth spot. Aretha Franklin is in pole position in the list.

Talking about Lata Mangeshkar, the Rolling Stone magazine wrote: "The crystalline, eternally girlish voice of “the Melody Queen” is a cornerstone of Indian pop music, with a global influence spread via Bollywood films, whose golden era she defined. Lata was the empress of playback singers, the vocal magicians who perform songs for actors to lip-sync in lavish movie musicals, recording over 7,000 such songs, by some estimates."

"Even Asha Bhosle, her younger sister and only true peer among playbackers, considered “Lata Didi” her “favorite singer” — and if Bhosle was more versatile and prolific, her elder sister remained the gold standard for the piercing brilliance of her tone."

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan also features in the list and he is positioned at the 91st spot.

Lata Mangeshkar is believed to be one of the greatest and most influential singers in India. Lata Mangeshkar is famous for her songs such as 'Hothon Main Aisi Baat', 'Tujhe Dekha To Yeh Jana Sanam', 'Piya Tose', 'Jiya Jale' and 'Kora Kagaz Tha Yeh Man Mera'.

Lata Mangeshkar passed away from multiple organ dysfunction syndrome in February 2022 at the age of 92.
