"Log Zyada Sensitive...": Here's What Sonu Sood Said About "Wrong Portrayal" Of Hindus In Films
In the latest Bollywood news, actor Sonu Sood was asked about the #BoycottBollywood trend and what he makes of the "wrong portrayal" of Hindus in certain films.
Actor Sonu Sood has been in the movie business for a long time now, but more than his acting, the 'Dabangg' star is famous for his humanitarian work that he did during the Covid-19 pandemic. He had helped many migrant workers reach their home towns as he arranged buses for them, or arranged train tickets for them. Even when someone asks for his help now on Twitter, the actor keeps on responding frequently and many people see him as a messiah as well.
Sonu Sood has not had a release in the theatres for a long time, but it is a given that whenever any one from the film fraternity gives interviews, they would be asked about the #BoycottBollywood hashtag that keeps on surfacing time and time again on Twitter.
Speaking in an interview with journalist Smita Prakash for a podcast on news agency ANI, Sonu Sood spoke about the #BoycottBollywood hashtag and the "wrong portrayal of Hindus" in movies.
Answering the question, Sonu Sood said: "Mujhe lagta hai ki log zyada sensitive ho gaye hain ya ban rahe hain toh voh ek chakkar hai. Jo boycott karte hain films ko… I don’t know ki kitna wise hai ya kitna genuine hai ya aap kitna usko mean karte hain. Bina dekhe film ko agar aap bolte hain ki isko boycott kiya jaye, this is also not fair."
"Aap picture ko reject kar sakte hain ki picture achi nahi bani par bina dekhe picture pe opinion pass karna, mujhe lagta hai voh thoda sa sahi nahi hai. Mauka zaroor dena chahiye ke tu apni kahani toh bata, hum batayenge ki iss kahani ko sunna hai ya nahi sunna," he added further.
Sonu Sood was also asked about the representation of different communities on screen and how some communities are often made fun of, but filmmakers end up being careful when they are talking about Islam.
“Aaj log thode zyada sensitive hain toh voh toh accept karenge nahi toh you have to be responsible ki aap apni baat kaise rakhna chahte hain saamne. Aap yeh nahi bol sakte ki bhaiya main toh aise hi chahta hun, aur main toh aise hi dikahunga, voh samay mujhe lagta hai chala gaya," said Sonu Sood.
Sonu Sood’s humanitarian deeds have earned him a massive fan following. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sonu Sood helped people by providing them with food, medicine, shelter and transport.
On the career front, Sonu Sood recently featured in the 2022 movie ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, co-starring Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chillar.
Sonu Sood is best known for his roles in films such as ‘Paltan’, ‘Dabangg’, ‘Happy New Year’, and ‘Simmba’.
