"Money Is Wasted In Vanity...": Vivek Agnihotri Slams Bollywood Stars For “Exorbitant Fees”
'The Kashmir Files' director Vivek Agnihotri said that "Bollywood is in bad shape", saying “money is wasted in vanity and lifestyle of stars”.
'The Kashmir Files' director Vivek Agnihotri has once again taken a potshot at Bollywood, saying the Bollywood film industry is in "bad shape" and most money is wasted in "vanity and lifestyle of stars". The filmmaker shared an article about movie stars charging huge fees but are unable to guarantee a box-office hit. The article had mentioned how Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan' is an exception in an otherwise bad year for Hindi films. Taking to Twitter, Agnihotri wrote: “Bollywood is in bad shape. Again. Seems as if the entire industry is happy giving unrealistic and exorbitant fees to stars who can’t even guarantee an opening. Most money is wasted in vanity and lifestyle of stars. What’s going wrong?”

For the unversed, 'Pathaan' collected more than Rs 1,000 crore worldwide and the movie starring SRK, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham also became the highest-grossing Hindi film in India, breaking the record of 'Baahubali: The Conclusion'.
Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor's 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar' also collected more than Rs 100 crore at the domestic box office.
Films like 'Selfiee' and 'Shehzada' tanked at the box office. The latest release -- Ajay Devgn's 'Bholaa' has also underperformed in the initial few days of its release.
'Selfiee' starred Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi while 'Shehzada' starred Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon.
Talking about Vivek Agnihotri, the director gave a massive hit last year in the form of 'The Kashmir Files'. The movie was one of the few box office hits for the Hindi film industry.
The director is currently helming 'The Vaccine War' based on a story revolving around the Covid-19 pandemic.
