“National Treasure”: SRK Reveals Why “Gentle Giant” John Abraham Didn’t Want To Punch Him In ‘Pathaan’
Ahead of the release of ‘Pathaan’, Shah Rukh Khan revealed some unheard facts about the movie and why John Abraham didn’t want to punch him during the action scenes.
Just a couple of days left for the release of Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback project ‘Pathaan’, and it’s no less than a celebration for SRK fans as ‘Pathaan’ marks his first full-length film in over four years. SRK, known for his witty responses, often interacts with the media. However, the ‘Pathaan’ team seems to have ditched any media rounds for the film’s promotions, letting the trailer, teaser and songs do all the talking.
On Wednesday, the makers took a different route and released a long video of SRK revealing some unheard facts about ‘Pathaan’.
The video in question was shared on Yash Raj Films’ Twitter handle and saw SRK spilling some beans about shooting with his co-stars John Abraham and Deepika Padukone. He also went on to talk about his “dream” of being an action hero and more.

While we learnt a lot of new things from SRK through this interesting, new video, King Khan talking about his experience of working with John Abraham definitely took the cake.
Shah Rukh revealed that John did not want to hurt him and called him a “national treasure”.
The megastar said, “It was really nice working with him and I also realised he’s a gentle giant. When we were doing the action, he says ‘You’re a national treasure, I will not hurt. I can’t.’ I said, ‘But it’s okay, you can.’ So he’s very shy and I had to do a lot of convincing to tell him that it’s okay, you can punch me, I won’t get hurt.”
Speaking about John’s role, SRK said, “I hope, genuinely, when Pathaan comes out, the most liked character in the film is John because it takes a lot of guts to do what he’s done as an actor and as a star, in the space and place that he is in.”
SRK also went on to reveal his dream of being an action hero. He shared, “I came to the film industry 32 years ago to be an action hero but I missed the boat because they made me a romantic hero instead. I've only wanted to be an action hero. I mean I love DDLJ and I love Rahul and Raj and all these good sweet boys but I always thought I was an action hero, so for me it is it's my dream come true.”
The actor also spoke about Deepika Padukone and her impact in ‘Pathaan’, saying, “You need someone of the stature of Deepika to be able to pull off a song sequence like Besharam Rang and then you know, to be able to do action, where she takes a guy and pulls him right over herself and beats him, she's tough enough to do that too. That kind of a combination could have only been achieved with someone like Deepika. It's a quite a layered character for an action film heroine so to say.”
Well, we don’t know about you, but SRK’s video has definitely got us even more excited about ‘Pathaan’!
Directed by Siddharth Anand, ‘Pathaan’ also features a treat for Salman Khan fans as the megastar has a cameo appearance in the film. The movie is set to arrive in cinemas on January 25 in several Indian languages.
