"People Must Have Found Him Fake": Arbaaz Khan On Shah Rukh Khan's ‘KBC’ Hosting Stint
Arbaaz Khan said that people must have found Shah Rukh Khan "fake" and that's why he did not have a successful hosting stint with 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'.
Arbaaz Khan is currently hosting his own chat show titled 'The Invincibles'. The actor is doing a round of interviews to promote his chat show, and in a latest chat with The Free Press Journal, Arbaaz Khan spoke about the hosting styles of Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. Citing the example of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', Arbaaz took a sharp dig at SRK, saying the latter could not bring "niceness" to the screen and people must have found him "fake".
When he was asked whether he has reinvented himself as a talk show host, Arbaaz said: "I feel, the kind of conversationalist I am, it comes by default and very naturally to me. People might have thought I am quite affable and natural as a host. My film image was way different since people couldn’t see my personal side while I played characters."
“How Salman Khan bounced back with Dus Ka Dum and Mr Amitabh Bachchan with Kaun Banega Crorepati, even their film careers revived post these television reality shows. It’s only about the demeanours. Shah Rukh Khan couldn’t pull it off," he added.
When quizzed further to explain his comment on SRK, Arbaaz said: "I think he couldn’t bring niceness and naturalism to the small screen. People must have found him fake. There were two people. At the end of the day, you can’t be fake in front of television or you have to be very smart like Amitabh Bachchan. He knows his audience but Shah Rukh Khan couldn’t do it."
For the unversed, Shah Rukh Khan had hosted the third season of KBC. However, this particular season saw a dip in ratings in the absence of Amitabh Bachchan.
Amitabh Bachchan returned to the host the fourth season of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' and since then, he has continued to host the popular quiz show.
In 2022, the 14th season of KBC had aired on Sony TV.
