Deepika Padukone To Team Up With Ajay Devgn For Rohit Shetty's ‘Singham 3’

Director Rohit Shetty on Thursday confirmed that Deepika Padukone would be starring in 'Singham 3'.

Deepika Padukone to play lady cop in Rohit Shetty's directorial 'Singham 3'.

Deepika Padukone is looked as one of the most bankable movie stars in the Hindi film industry and hence it comes as no surprise, that ace director Rohit Shetty has chosen the actor to be the first lady cop in the third installment of the popular movie franchise 'Singham'. The filmmaker made the announcement on the sidelines of a song launch from his next movie titled 'Cirkus' which is set to hit the theatres later this month. 

The song titled 'Current Laga Re' from Cirkus was launched on Thursday, and in this particular track, Deepika Padukone can be seen grooving alongside husband and actor Ranveer Singh. It is important to note that Deepika Padukone has a cameo in the movie 'Cirkus'.

At the song launch event, Rohit Shetty was asked about who will play the lady cop in the 'Singham' franchise and to this particular question he replied: "We are making Singham next. Everyone kept asking me who is the lady cop in my universe. So today, let me confirm that Deepika Padukone will be the lady Singham, the lady cop in Singham 3. We start shooting next year."

As soon as the news made headlines, fans went into overdrive on Twitter, hailing the decision of roping in Padukone for the role.

Deepika Padukone will next be seen in 'Pathaan' opposite Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham. The movie is set to hit the theatres on January 25, 2023.

Talking about 'Singham', the movie had released in 2011 and it had Ajay Devgn in lead role. It served as the first installment of Shetty's cop universe. It was a remake of the 2010 Tamil film of the same title by Hari.

Following the film's success, Devgn and Shetty reunited for the sequel Singham Returns which released in 2014. 

Devgn then went on to play 'Singham' in Rohit Shetty's directorials Simmba (2018) and Sooryavanshi (2021).
