Shah Rukh Khan Beats Lionel Messi, Prince Harry To Top TIME Magazine Annual Readers Poll
The year keeps on getting better for Shah Rukh Khan!
2023 has gotten off to an amazing start for Shah Rukh Khan. First, his comeback project 'Pathaan' smashed all box office records and became the highest-grossing Hindi film in India. In the latest entertainment news, SRK has now also topped the 2023 TIME100 poll, which is decided by readers who vote for the individuals or groups that they think are deserving of a spot on the magazine's annual list of the most influential people.
As per the official website of TIME Magazine, Shah Rukh Khan earned 4 per cent of the total votes received. A total of 1.2 million votes were cast.
Describing Shah Rukh Khan, TIME Magazine wrote: "Khan, arguably India’s most famous actor and an international icon in his own right, is also a producer and co-owner of the Knight Riders Group women’s cricket team. The actor made his mark as Bollywood’s favorite romantic hero, starring in blockbusters like Dilwale Dulhania le Jayenge and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai."
"His decades-long career has seen him star in more than 100 films and his most recent film is Pathaan. Released in January, it’s one of the top-grossing films of the year so far, collecting nearly USD 130 million worldwide," the description further states.
In the poll, the Iranian women who are protesting for their rights secured the second spot. They have garnered 3 per cent of the total votes.
The third spot was secured by the healthcare workers who have been at the front of the Covid-19 pandemic since the very start.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took the fourth spot in the poll while Argentina's World Cup-winning captain Lionel Messi secured the fifth spot.
Last year, Gautam Adani, Karuna Nundy, and Khurram Parvez were the only Indians on the TIME Magazine list.
Talking about SRK, the actor was last seen in this year's 'Pathaan'. The movie which also starred Deepika Padukone and John Abraham made more than Rs 1,000 crore worldwide, and it also became the highest-grossing Hindi film in India.
The actor will next be seen in 'Jawan' and 'Dunki' this year.
