Shefali Shah has been arguably one of the finest actresses in Indian cinema over the last two decades or so. The star is known for her roles in 'Delhi Crime', 'Monsoon Wedding', 'Dil Dhadakne Do' and 'Satya'. Recently, Shefali Shah recalled an incident revealing how she was “touched inappropriately” in a crowded place. She also revealed how she decided to never tell it to anyone, and she was ashamed of it. In the latest entertainment news, Shefali Shah made this revelation during the latest episode of ANI podcast with journalist Smita Prakash. During the same, Shefali Shah talked about her performance in 'Monsoon Wedding', where she played a role of Ria Verma, who was sexually abused as a child.

“Like I said earlier, everyone’s gone through it. I remember walking in a crowded market and being touched inappropriately and feeling crap about it. And, never ever saying anything because I wouldn’t say it was guilt but it’s just shameful," Shefali Shah told Smita Prakash, as per Hindustan Times.

To this statement, journalist Smita Prakash said: "And wondering if you did anything to invite it?”

To this question, the actress responded, saying: "Yes. I agree with you. A lot of people think, did I do anything? You feel guilty, shameful and you feel ‘bhool jao'. Shove it under the carpet kind of thing’. Honestly, I don’t think I gave it so much thought that it’s an important conversation to speak. It was just something that struck straight inside me and the entire film.”

For the unversed, 'Monsoon Wedding' starred Shefali Shah, Naseeruddin Shah, Lillete Dubey, Vasundhara Das, Vijay Raaz, Rajat Kapoor, Randeep Hooda and Soni Razdan.

The movie was based on romantic entanglements between people. The movie had also premiered at the Cannes Film Festival of 2001.

'Monsoon Wedding' was also nominated for a Golden Globe and the movie also managed to win the Golden Lion award at the Venice International Film Festival.
