Siddharth Anand Explains Reason Behind Choosing Deepika Padukone's Orange Bikini For 'Besharam Rang' In 'Pathaan'
Director Siddharth Anand has explained the reasoning behind choosing Deepika Padukone's orange bikini colour for 'Besharam Rang'.
Shah Rukh Khan's comeback project 'Pathaan' turned out to be a massive success as the new Bollywood movie made more than Rs 1,000 crore at the global box office. The movie made its way to Amazon Prime Video last week, and a fresh set of audience is now appreciating the movie. However, it was not all things bright for 'Pathaan' as 15 days prior to its release in the cinemas, the movie was embroiled in a controversy.
Ever since song 'Besharam Rang' was released, the makers were criticised for choosing orange as Deepika Padukone's bikini colour.
Now, director Siddharth Anand has explained the reasoning behind choosing this particular colour.
“The colour was looking nice. It was sunny, the grass was greener and the water was blue and the orange colour was looking good. We thought when the audience would watch it they would understand that our intent was not wrong," Siddharth Anand said at News18 Rising India summit 2023.
“We knew that there was nothing objectionable in our film,” he added.
When asked about ‘boycott Pathaan’ trend, Siddharth Anand said: "They (the audience) proved the whole boycott movement wrong. And when you are calling for a boycott of a star or a movie, you are not seeing how many people’s livelihood is dependent on that particular movie especially if it works. At least three hundred people work on a film every day. And when the shoot gets over so many VFX artists work on the post production. It’s very easy to say boycott, that too, without reason.”
The theatrical version of 'Pathaan' had a run-time of 146 minutes meaning 2 hours and 26 minutes while the extended streaming version is 148 minutes long equating to 2 hours and 28 minutes.
'Pathaan' which stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana, had released in the theatres on January 25 and the movie demolished records left, right and centre.
The new Hindi movie has made more than Rs 525 crore at the domestic box office, and en route, it broke the record of 'Baahubali: The Conclusion' to become the highest-grossing Hindi film in India.
Internationally, 'Pathaan' has made more than Rs 1,000 crore, further establishing the stardom of Shah Rukh Khan in overseas markets.
