'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar' mints more than Rs 15 crore on its opening day of release.

The Hindi film industry was searching for its next big hit after 'Pathaan' as highly-anticipated movies like 'Shehzada' and 'Selfiee' bombed at the box office. While Kartik Aaryan's new Hindi Bollywood movie 'Shehzada' made more than just Rs 6 crore on its opening day, 'Selfiee' fared poorly as it collected just a little more than Rs 2 crore. So, it is fair to say that the expectations were really high from Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar' when the new Hindi Bollywood movie released on March 8.

It looks like the new Bollywood movie has passed the opening day test with flying colours. The Luv Ranjan-directorial has made more than Rs 15 crore on March 8. It is important to mention that Holi was celebrated on March 8, and hence the shows started picking pace only during the noon shows.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted the Day 1 collection of the new Hindi Bollywood movie and he said that the movie did very well on the opening day.

"#TuJhoothiMainMakkaar does VERY WELL on Day 1… Got a boost due to #Holi festivities in several states, but lost out on substantial chunk of biz where #Holi was celebrated a day early [#Mumbai; working day]… Wed ₹ 15.73 cr. #India biz," he tweeted.

When it comes to the three national cinema chains (PVR, Cinepolis and INOX), 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar' collected Rs 7.85 crore.

In three national chains, on the opening day, 'Pathaan' collected Rs 27.08 crore while 'Shehzada' and 'Selfiee' collected Rs 2.92 crore and Rs 1.30 crore respectively.

The Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer has received mixed reviews. Some fans are labelling it as one of the best rom-coms to emerge out of Bollywood in the last few years, while others are criticising the director Luv Ranjan for showing women in a poor light.

The critics might be giving the movie some mixed reviews, however, normal audience on Twitter has been going gaga and most of them reserved the highest praise for Ranbir Kapoor.

The actor has returned to the rom-com genre after a long gap. His last rom-com movie was 'Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani'.
