"Zinda Hai": Shah Rukh Khan's Positive Message Amid 'Pathaan' Boycott Calls
While inaugurating the 28th edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival along with Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan spoke about the adverse impacts of social media.
Ever since 'Besharam Rang' song was released from the upcoming movie 'Pathaan', quite a controversy has been created regarding the choreography and costumes used in the peppy number. There have been calls for boycotting the upcoming Shah Rukh Khan movie. On Thursday, the 'Chak de India' actor spoke for the first time since these boycott calls started trending on Twitter. While inaugurating the 28th edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival along with Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan spoke about the adverse impacts of social media and how negativity spreads through it.
“Cinema and the advent of articulation through social media platforms have now become the foremost expression of human emotions and experience. The collective narrative of our times is shaped by social media and contrary to the belief that the spread of social media will affect the cinema negatively, I believe cinema has an even more important role to play now," Shah Rukh Khan said in his speech.
“I read somewhere negativity increases social media consumption and thereby increases its commercial value as well. Such pursuits enclose the collective narrative, making it divisive and destructive," he added.

"Ek dialogue bol deta hu mai aapke samne. Apni kursi ki pethi baand lijiye, mausam bigadne wala hai. Aur kuch dino se hum log yaha nahi aaye hai, aap logo se mil nahi paye hai, lekin hum duniya ab normal hogai hai, hum sab khush hai, mai sabse zada khush hu. Aur ye baat batane me mujhe koi bhi appati nahi hai, duniya kuch bhi karle, mai aur aap log, jitne bhi positive log hai, sab ke sab, zinda hai," said Shah Rukh Khan.
