Move over big-budget action flicks and mindless comedies – romance is stealing the spotlight once again! In an industry currently dominated by actioners, a quiet romance is making the loudest noise. Mohit Suri’s ‘Saiyaara’ has emerged as a surprise blockbuster, proving audiences still crave heartfelt love stories. Starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, the film is defying expectations. The romantic drama has struck a chord with audiences, and is now racing toward the coveted Rs 100 crore club – proving once again that when done right, love stories never go out of style.

‘Saiyaara’ earned Rs 37 crore on Sunday, the third day of its release, taking the total three-day collection to Rs 83.07 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The Mohit Suri directorial, which has been backed by Yash Raj Films, started its journey by minting Rs 21 crore on its opening day.

The film then saw a spike in collections on its first Saturday, earning Rs 25 crore. The overall occupancy on Sunday was 71.18 per cent. It must be mentioned that the film has only released in the Hindi language across India.

‘Saiyaara’ has already surpassed the total lifetime collection of ‘Student of the Year’, which marked the debuts of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. The Karan Johar directorial had made Rs 70 crore in India in 2012.

It has also overtaken the lifetime earnings of Ananya Panday's debut film 'Student of the Year 2', which had collected Rs 70.86 crore. For the unversed, Ananya is the cousin of 'Saiyaara' lead Ahaan Panday. 'Saiyaara' is also on track to beat the lifetime earnings of Janhvi Kapoor's debut feature 'Dhadak'.

The new Hindi film has also beaten the lifetime collection of John Abraham's 'Diplomat', Kangana Ranaut's 'Emergency'. 'Saiyaara' is only trailing behind the biggest releases of 2025 such as 'Chhaava' and 'Housefull 5'.

Looking at the rate at which 'Saiyaara' is raking in the moolah, it is safe to say that the film will go past the earnings of films like 'Sikandar', 'Raid 2', 'Kesari Chapter 2', 'Bhool Chuk Maaf' and 'Sitaare Zameen Par'.

'Saiyaara' has already been praised by celebrities such as Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar, Arjun Kapoor and more. The film marks the debut of Ahaan Panday. While Aneet Padda is known for her work in the Prime Video series 'Big Girls Don't Cry'.

Earlier, Mohit Suri had praised both Ahaan and Aneet for being focused and understanding the nuances of filmmaking.

“It’s important to watch the films you're working on, the kind of person you're working with, because somewhere, something of yours bleeds into your film. So, what I like the most about these two was that they were film buffs before they became actors and not fashion icons and so-called influencers,” Hindustan Times quoted Mohit Suri as saying.
