Ranbir Kapoor has proved that he is a true beast when it comes to box office collections. The Bollywood superstar has been minting money like no one’s business with the release of his latest Hindi movie ‘Animal’. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, ‘Animal’ also stars Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri, and Shakti Kapoor. The new Hindi movie, which was released in cinemas on December 1, has now crossed the Rs 500 crore mark in India despite receiving negative reviews.

It is important to mention that it achieved this feat despite facing competition from Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Sam Bahadur’, which was released on the same day.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Animal’ minted an estimated Rs 15 crore across all languages on Day 17 of its release (third Sunday). The total domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 512.94 crore.

Ranbir Kapoor is the latest Bollywood actor to enter the Rs 500 crore club after Shah Rukh Khan and Sunny Deol. The film’s Hindi collections are an estimated Rs 466 crore, while globally the film is inching closer to Rs 850 crore mark.

In terms of an all-India record, ‘Animal’ is looking to break Shah Rukh Khan’s 2023 Bollywood movie ‘Pathaan’, which made Rs 543 crore domestically.

The other Shah Rukh Khan 2023 release, ‘Jawan’, seems to be out of reach as the Atlee directorial had minted Rs 640 crore in India.

In Hindi collections, the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial is chasing two records – ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Gadar 2’. While ‘Pathaan’ closed its Hindi run at Rs 524 crore, Sunny Deol’s mighty return to cinemas was at Rs 525 crore.

It remains to be seen how ‘Animal’ performs this week as two of the biggest 2023 movies will arrive in cinemas – Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’ and Prabhas’ ‘Salaar’.

‘Animal’ is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar's T-Series, Murad Khetani's Cine1 Studios and Pranay Reddy Vanga's Bhadrakali Pictures. The new Hindi movie shows a violent world set against the backdrop of a troubled relationship between Ranbir's character Ranvijay Singh and his father Balbir Singh, played by Anil Kapoor.

Meanwhile, ‘Sam Bahadur’ made Rs 5.50 crore as per early estimates posted by Sacnilk. The movie’s total collection now stands at Rs 76.85 crore.
