‘Animal’ Box Office Collection Day 3: Ranbir Kapoor's Film Sets Box Office On Fire, Creates Multiple Records
‘Animal’, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor, has breached the Rs 200 crore mark in just three days.
‘Animal’, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor, is wreaking havoc at the box office. A runtime of 3 hours and 21 minutes, an ‘A’ (adults certificate) and negative reviews have not been able to derail the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial, as the new Hindi movie continues to rake in the moolah. As per early estimates posted by industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Animal’ minted Rs 72.50 crore nett across all languages on Sunday, and hence the three-day total now stands at a whopping Rs 202.57 crore.
For the unversed, ‘Animal’ had made Rs 63.8 crore and Rs 66.27 crore on Friday and Saturday, respectively. With this, the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer has become the first film in the history of Indian cinema to score Rs 50 crore+ in Hindi language on three consecutive days.
Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan’s 'Pathaan' had registered collections of Rs 50 crore+ in Hindi on two consecutive days and it did twice, while his 'Jawan' did it once.
Talking about the collections for the first three days, ‘Jawan’ had minted Rs 206.06 crore, while ‘Pathaan’ had made Rs 166.75 crore. Hence, ‘Animal’ is now at the second spot in the list of the highest opening weekend for any Hindi film.
‘Animal’ has also emerged as the No.1 film at the worldwide box office for this week, reported Pinkvilla. The Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial has made around USD 40.50 million (Rs 340 crore) at the global box office in three days. ‘Animal’ has beaten ‘Napolean’ and ‘Hunger Games’ to achieve this feat.
With this, the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer has become the third Indian film after ‘Master’ and ‘RRR’ to take the No.1 spot at the global box office in the opening weekend, as per Pinkvilla.
It is important to note that ‘Animal’ was not a solo release this week, as it clashed with Vicky Kaushal's ‘Sam Bahadur’. Hence, the collection worldwide is mind boggling.
As per Pinkvilla journalist Himesh Mankad, ‘Animal’ is all set to collect more than Rs 30 crore on Monday as well after selling 1.75 lakh tickets at national cinema chains (PVR, INOX and Cinepolis).
For the unversed, ‘Animal’ released in theatres on December 1, and the movie is being bashed for being highly problematic and misogynistic.
Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Sam Bahadur’ has been performing decently at the box office amid the ‘Animal’ buzz. As per early estimates posted by Sacnilk, ‘Sam Bahadur’ earned Rs 10.30 crore in India on Sunday.
The film recorded a business of Rs 6.25 crore on its opening day and improved on the weekend. On Saturday, it earned Rs 9 crore. The total of the film currently stands at Rs 25.55 crore.
The new Hindi movie, directed by Meghna Gulzar, also stars Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
