‘Animal’, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Triptii Dimri, is proving to be a box office juggernaut. The Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial has been making and breaking box office records since it released in theatres on December 1. And the new Hindi movie is showing no signs of slowing down. The film is being severely debated on social media, with a section of people calling out the new Hindi movie for its problematic and misogynistic content.

But no one can deny the box office success of ‘Animal’ as fans continue to flock to the theatres to watch the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer. ‘Animal’ minted Rs 25.50 crore across all languages on Thursday, which was the seventh day of its release.

Now, the total domestic nett collection of ‘Animal’ stands at a massive Rs 338 crore. ‘Animal’ is now just Rs 4 crore away from going past ‘Sanju’ to become the biggest hit of Ranbir Kapoor's career. The movie has already surpassed the collection of some of the biggest hits of 2023 – ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, ‘The Kerala Story’, and ‘Tiger 3’.

On Thursday, ‘Animal’ saw an overall occupancy of 30.43 per cent in India. Globally, ‘Animal’ has already made more than Rs 500 crore and the second weekend collection will give a clearer picture on whether ‘Animal’ would be able to go past the Rs 1,000 crore mark or not.

This box office performance of ‘Animal’ is huge considering it is an ‘A’ (adults only) film and has a runtime of more than three hours.

For the unversed, ‘Animal’ was not a solo release on December 1 as it clashed with Meghna Gulzar's latest directorial venture ‘Sam Bahadur’, which stars Vicky Kaushal, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra.

Speaking of ‘Sam Bahadur’, the new Hindi film minted Rs 3.05 crore on Thursday, taking the seven-day collection to Rs 38.85 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk.

It can be safely said that ‘Animal’ is expected to rule the ticket counters until Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’ releases in theatres on December 21. A day later, Prabhas’ ‘Salaar’ will also be releasing in theatres.
