Ranbir Kapoor-Starrer 'Animal' Enters Rs 100 Crore Club In Just 2 Days, Decimates Vicky Kaushal's 'Sam Bahadur'
Ranbir Kapoor-starrer 'Animal', directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, continues to decimate the box office.
An 'A' (adults only) certificate, runtime of 3 hours and 21 minutes, negative reviews from critics, some members of audience calling it "problematic" and "misogynistic", looks like all these factors have gone for a toss as 'Animal' continues to decimate the box office. It looks like Sandeep Reddy Vanga-directorial, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Bobby Deol, has managed to impress fans at the ground level, and in the latest entertainment news, 'Animal' has gone past the Rs 100 crore mark in just 2 days.
As per early estimates posted by industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Animal' collected Rs 66 crore on Day 2, taking the total two day collection to Rs 129.80 crore, across all languages in India. For the unversed, 'Animal' had made Rs 63.80 crore in India on Day 1.
It needs to be noted that there has been praise for Ranbir Kapoor's performance across the board, however, the movie is being dissed by movie critics for being highly problematic and misogynistic. Some have been called 'Animal' as "Kabir Singh on steroids."
Earlier, Ranbir Kapoor's actress wife Alia Bhatt had praised his performance in 'Animal'. Taking to Instagram, she wrote, "For all that you are on and off camera. For the patience, silence and love you give your craft..& for the person you are to your family. For taking such huge strides as an artist..& for literally making our daughter take her first steps today.. For completely blowing us away with your performance…& for making all of the above look so easy. Congratulations my not so little animal."

'Animal' is expected to earn solid amount of money on Day 3 as well, and the movie will turn up with an outstanding weekend collection. However, whether it manages to cross Rs 500 crore, it will all depend on how the film fares on the weekdays.
Talking about 'Sam Bahadur' which released on the same day as 'Animal', the new Hindi film directed by Meghna Gulzar, minted Rs 9.25 crore across all languages on Day 2, taking the total collection to 15.50 crore, reported industry tracker Sacnilk. 'Sam Bahadur' had made Rs 6.25 crore on its opening day.
For the uninitiated, 'Sam Bahadur' stars Vicky Kaushal, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra in leading roles.
'Sam Bahadur' is based on the real-life story of Sam Manekshaw, the former Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army and the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal.
