This Friday will see a monumental box office clash as Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' and Vicky Kaushal's 'Sam Bahadur' will be battling it out. The entire Hindi film industry will hope that it turns out to be a super-duper Friday and both films end up receiving positive response. The advance ticket sales of both films are getting good traction, however, the initial trend indicates that 'Animal' would rule the roost in the initial few days.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Animal', which also stars Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, has already sold 7,45,992 tickets across India, grossing Rs 19.7 crore.
Out of these 7 lakh tickets, more than 2.5 lakh tickets are from national cinema chains (PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis). 'Animal' would hope to record one of the highest advance ticket sales for a Hindi film post Covid-19 pandemic.
On the other hand, Meghna Gulzar's 'Sam Bahadur' which also stars Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra, has so far sold 57,888 tickets, grossing Rs 1.82 crore.
It is fair to say that 'Sam Bahadur' needs a glowing word of mouth, if the movie wants to have any chance of earning respectable amount of money.
However, it also needs to be noted that 'Sam Bahadur' has far less number of shows as compared to 'Animal' across India. The Ranbir Kapoor-starrer is also seeing good advance ticket sales in Telgu language.
'Animal' is releasing in theatres in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada while 'Sam Bahadur' is just releasing in Hindi.
Currently, the record of most advance ticket sales is held by Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’ as it had sold over 5.57 lakh tickets for the first day. SRK's ‘Pathaan’ is at the second spot with 5.56 lakh ticket sales.
Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff-starrer ‘War’ (4.04 lakh tickets) is at the third spot, and it is followed by Aamir Khan's ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ (3.46 lakh tickets), and Salman Khan's ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ (3.4 lakh tickets).
Speaking of Ranbir Kapoor, his biggest hit till date is Rajkumar Hirani's ‘Sanju’ as it grossed nearly Rs 600 crore worldwide.
