Ayushmann Khurrana, Ananya Panday’s ‘Dream Girl 2’ Continues Dream Run At Box Office, Crosses Rs 100 Crore Worldwide Gross
‘Dream Girl 2’, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday, is continuing its glorious run at the box office despite tough competition from ‘Gadar 2’.
Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday’s new Hindi movie, ‘Dream Girl 2’, is proving to be a box office winner. The Bollywood film, which marked Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday’s first collaboration together, was released on August 25 in theatres. ‘Dream Girl 2’ has been facing tough competition from Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’, which has already crossed the Rs 500 crore mark in India. Despite stiff competition from ‘Gadar 2’ and opening to mixed reviews, ‘Dream Girl 2’ is continuing its glorious run in cinemas.
While ‘Dream Girl 2’ is on its way to crossing the Rs 100 mark at the domestic box office, it has already crossed the worldwide gross collection of Rs 100 crore. Ayushmann Khurrana shared a clip from one of his dance numbers from the new Hindi movie and wrote on X, “Pooja ek tyohaar hai, Aapke pyaar ke vajah se ab 100 Crore ke paar hai.”

At the domestic box office, ‘Dream Girl 2’ collected Rs 3 crore on its second Tuesday, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The film’s India collection now stands at Rs 91.96 crore after 12 days of its release.
The new Hindi movie had opened well at Rs 10.69 crore and reached its highest single-day collection of Rs 16 crore on its first Sunday.
However, ‘Dream Girl 2’ is still far behind its first installment which stands at a worldwide gross collection of Rs 195 crore.
Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa and produced by Ektaa R Kapoor, ‘Dream Girl 2’ has Ayushmann Khurrana playing dual roles of Karam and Pooja. Ananya Panday is portraying the love interest of Ayushmann. ‘Dream Girl 2’ also stars Paresh Rawal, Abhishek Banerjee, Rajpal Yadav, Manjot Singh and Vijay Raaz.
‘Dream Girl 2’ has become the first hit post-pandemic for Ayushmann Khurrana. Before ‘Dream Girl 2’, Ayushmann Khurrana gave a string of flops. His recent films ‘An Action Hero’, ‘Doctor G’, ‘Anek’ and ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ could not bring the audience to the theatres.
Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, Ayushmann Khurrana’s last release ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’ could only make Rs 60.78 crore through its run. The actor’s last hit was 2019’s ‘Bala’ which made Rs 116.81 crore at the box office.
‘Dream Girl 2’ is a sequel to Ayushmann Khurrana Khurrana’s 2019 hit ‘Dream Girl’ in which he was paired opposite Nushrratt Bharuccha. The first film in the franchise made Rs 142.26 crore when it released in 2019.
It remains to be seen how ‘Dream Girl 2’ will perform after Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’ releases on September 7.
