Ayushmann Khurrana, Ananya Panday’s ‘Dream Girl 2’ Mints Rs 86 Crore, Eyes 100 Crore Club
'Dream Girl 2', starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday, continued its fine run at the box office, despite competition from 'Gadar 2' and 'OMG 2'.
Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday’s first collaboration together, ‘Dream Girl 2’, is having a dream run at the box office. Despite stiff competition from Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2’, the new Hindi movie has managed to continue its strong run at the box office. After its second week in theatres, ‘Dream Girl 2’ crossed the Rs 80 crore mark and looks like it is now eyeing the Rs 100 crore club. The new Hindi movie, directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, opened to mixed reviews from critics when it released on August 25.
Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office collection of ‘Dream Girl 2’ on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The new Hindi movie had collected Rs 10.69 crore on the day of its release. ‘Dream Girl 2’ saw a significant jump in its numbers on its first Saturday and Sunday, collecting Rs 14.02 crore and 16 crore, respectively, taking the first weekend total to more than Rs 40 crore.
On its second Friday, the new Hindi movie collected to Rs 4.17 crore. It saw a jump in its numbers on the second Saturday and Sunday, minting Rs 6.36 crore and Rs 8.10 crore, respectively. The current total of ‘Dream Girl 2’ now stands at Rs 86.16 crore.
It remains to be seen how the new Hindi movie will perform this week. Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’ is set to release in theatres on September 7.
Before ‘Dream Girl 2’, Ayushmann Khurrana gave a string of flops. His recent films ‘An Action Hero’, ‘Doctor G’, ‘Anek’ and ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ could not bring the audience to the theatres. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, Ayushmann Khurrana’s last release ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’ could only make Rs 60.78 crore through its run. The actor’s last hit was 2019’s ‘Bala’ which made Rs 116.81 crore at the box office.
In ‘Dream Girl 2’, Ayushmann Khurrana is playing dual roles of Karam and Pooja. Ananya Panday is portraying the love interest of Ayushmann.
Apart from Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday, ‘Dream Girl 2’ also stars Paresh Rawal, Abhishek Banerjee, Rajpal Yadav, Manjot Singh and Vijay Raaz.
‘Dream Girl 2’ is a sequel to Ayushmann Khurrana Khurrana’s 2019 hit ‘Dream Girl’ in which he was paired opposite Nushrratt Bharuccha. The first film in the franchise made Rs 142.26 crore when it released in 2019.
