'Bad Newz' Becomes Vicky Kaushal's Biggest Opener, Mints Rs 8.5 Crpre On Day 1

'Bad Newz', starring Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri, and Ammy Virk, is off to a good start at the box office.

'Bad Newz', starring Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk, directed by Anand Tiwari, is off to a good start at the box office, and the new Hindi film will be hoping to maintain the momentum over the weekend. In the latest entertainment news, as per early estimates posted by industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Bad Newz' minted Rs 8.50 crore on the opening day of its release. The film had an overall 22.83 per cent Hindi occupancy on Friday.  'Bad Newz' has received positive feedback from the audience, so it is likely that the film will record a jump in collection on Saturday and Sunday. 

With this, Vicky Kaushal has registered the biggest opening of his career. His previous biggest opening came with 2019's 'Uri: The Surgical Strike', which minted Rs 8.20 crore on the opening day. The movie eventually went on to collect Rs 245 crore in India. 

Trade experts are bracketing 'Bad Newz' alongside Hindi films like 'Crew' and 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya'. For the unversed, Kareena Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Tabu-starrer 'Crew minted Rs 10.28 crore on Day 1 and went on to make Rs 89.92 crore, while Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon's 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya' started its box office journey with Rs 7.02 crore and went on to make Rs 80.88 crore.

Coming to Akshay Kumar's 'Sarfira', released in cinemas last week, minted Rs 0.40 crore on Friday, the eighth day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of the new Hindi film now stands at Rs 19.15 crore. 

'Sarfira' was released in cinemas last week alongside Kamal Haasan's 'Indian 2', directed by Shankar. The new Tamil film minted Rs 1.15 crore on Friday, the eighth day of its release, as per Sacnilk. The nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 71.55 crore, across all languages.

Coming to Nag Ashwin's 'Kalki 2898 AD' starring Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani, the new pan-India film continues to maintain a steady pace at the box office. Despite new releases, the new pan-India film continues to find an audience at the theatres. 

On Friday (Day 23 of its release), 'Kalki 2898 AD' minted Rs 2.65 crore, as per Sacnilk. The total domestic film collection now stands at Rs 602.10 crore. With this, 'Kalki 2898 AD' has now become the fifth highest-grosser of all time in India. The top four grossers in India are 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion' (Rs 1020.42 crore nett), 'KGF: Chapter 2' (Rs 859.7 crore), 'RRR' (Rs 782.2 crore) and 'Jawan' (Rs 640 crore). 

Lastly, speaking of Raghav Juyal and Lakshya's 'Kill', which has been backed by Karan Johar and Guneet Monga, minted Rs 0.40 crore on Friday (the 15th day of its release). As per Sacnilk, the total nett domestic collection of the film currently stands at Rs 18.30 crore.
