'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' and 'Maidaan' have registered a below-par extended opening weekend.

Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff's 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' and Ajay Devgn's 'Maidaan' released in cinemas on the occasion of Eid 2024. Fans were expecting both the new Hindi movies to make the most of the holiday and record a good box office collection. However, this was not the case. Both the Hindi films are underperforming at the box office, and have recorded a below-par extended opening weekend. It is unlikely that any of these two movies will emerge as a box office hit.

As per early estimates posted by industry tracker Sacnilk, Ali Abbas Zafar's new directorial venture 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan', starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in the lead roles, minted Rs 9 crore on Sunday, the fourth day of its release. The total four-day nett domestic collection now stands at Rs 40.75 crore.

On the other hand, Amit Ravindernath Sharma's directorial 'Maidaan', starring Ajay Devgn, made Rs 6.25 crore on Sunday, the fourth day of its release. The total four-day nett domestic collection now stands at Rs 21.85 crore. 'Maidaan' registered its highest single-day haul yet on Sunday. However, it is important to mention that 'Maidaan' has still not registered a double-digit box-office collection.

'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' had an overall 20.63 per cent Hindi occupancy on Sunday, while 'Maidaan' had an overall 22.87 per cent Hindi occupancy on Sunday, as reported by Sacnilk.

For the unversed, 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' is an important film for Akshay Kumar as his last box office hit was the 2023 movie 'OMG 2', in which he had an extended cameo and served as the producer. The superstar's last few films like 'Ram Setu', 'Samrat Prithviraj', 'Mission Raniganj', and 'Selfiee', have tanked at the box office.

'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' has been bashed by critics and it looks difficult that the new Hindi movie will not be able to recover its reported budget of Rs 350 crore. On the other hand, 'Maidaan' had opened to positive word of mouth, but it is fair to say that the reviews have not translated into more footfalls at the ticket counters.

Talking about 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan', the Ali Abbas Zafar directorial also stars Alaya F, Manushi Chillar, Ronit Roy, Sonakshi Sinha, and Prithviraj Sukumaran.

On the other hand, 'Maidaan' also stars Priyamani and Gajraj Rao. For the unversed, 'Maidaan' is based on the life of Syed Abdul Rahim, who is regarded as the architect of modern Indian football.
