Box office collection Day 5: Vikrant Massey's '12th Fail' continues to dominate Kangana Ranaut's 'Tejas'.
Kangana Ranaut-starrer 'Tejas', which is an aerial action film, continues to be in freefall when it comes to ticket sales. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Tejas' collected just Rs 30 lakh on Tuesday (October 31), and the total collection of the new Hindi movie stands at Rs 4.50 crore. 'Tejas' is facing stiff competition from Vidhu Vinod Chopra's '12th Fail', which stars Vikrant Massey in a lead role.
On Tuesday, '12th Fail' collected Rs 1.25 crore, as per Sacnilk, and the total collection of the film now stands at Rs 9.99 crore. The Vidhu Vinod Chopra-directorial has earned twice as much as 'Tejas' total earnings.
For the unversed, 'Tejas' had opened at Rs 1.25 crore and showed no improvement on the opening weekend. On the other hand, '12th Fail' is riding on a tremendous word of mouth, and the movie saw a massive jump in collection on Saturday and Sunday.
For the unversed, ‘Tejas’ is Kangana Ranaut’s consecutive box office disaster. Baring her 2019 release ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, her films since ‘Katti Batti’ in 2015 have been box office duds, which includes her last release, ‘Dhaakad’.
‘Tejas’ earned Rs 1.25 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 1.30 crore on Saturday and Rs 1.25 crore on Sunday. It is written and directed by Sarvesh Mewara. The movie also stars Anshul Chauhan, Varun Mitra, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Vishak Nair.
Talking about '12th Fail', the movie tells the story of ambition, dedication and overcoming setbacks. The film is based on Anurag Pathak's best-selling novel about the incredible journey of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma and IRS officer Shraddha Joshi. The film also stars Medha Shankar opposite Vikrant Massey.
On Sunday, '12th Fail', collected Rs 2.8 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. On Saturday, it had collected Rs 2.51 crore, while it opened to Rs 1.11 crore on Friday.
Kangana Ranaut will next be seen in the 2024 Hindi movie ‘Emergency’. In the film, directed by Kangana Ranaut, she will play the role of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
