‘Kill’ Passes Monday Test, 'Kalki 2898 AD' Witnesses First Major Drop In Collection
Lakshya and Raghav Juyal's ‘Kill’ minted more money on Monday as compared to its first day at the box office.
Lakshya and Raghav Juyal’s ‘Kill’, which was released in cinemas on Friday (July 5), is managing to brave the 'Kalki 2898 AD' storm. And it looks like the new Hindi movie, which is being marketed as "India's most violent film", is finally finding an audience for itself. 'Kill' minted more money on Monday as compared to its first day at the box office. According to early estimates posted by industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Kill' collected Rs 1.30 crore on Monday, the fourth day of its release.
For the uninitiated, 'Kill' had collected Rs 1.25 crore on its opening day, and followed it up with collecting Rs 2.15 crore and Rs 2.70 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
The total nett domestic collection of 'Kill' now stands at Rs 7.40 crore. On Monday, 'Kill' had an overall 16.17 per cent Hindi occupancy. 'Kill' has now performed better than Kiran Rao's 'Laapataa Ladies'. After the first four days, 'Laapataa Ladies', which was backed by Aamir Khan, minted Rs 4.40 crore, as per Sacnilk.
'Kill' is directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat and produced by Karan Johar and Guneet Monga. The film held its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023. ‘Kill’ tells the story of army commando Amrit (portrayed by Lakshya) racing against time to rescue his beloved Tulika (played by Tanya Maniktala) from bandits.
Now coming to Nag Ashwin's 'Kalki 2898 AD', starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani, the new pan-India movie minted Rs 11.35 crore on Monday, the 12th day of its release. The total nett domestic across all languages now stands at Rs 521.40 crore.
Out of this 11.35 crore on Monday, Rs 3.5 crore came from the Telugu version, while the Hindi version contributed Rs 6.5 crore. The Hindi version is continuing to outperform the Telugu version.
The Hindi total nett domestic collection now stands at Rs 218.90 crore, while the Telugu version has minted Rs 249.05 crore, as per Sacnilk. As per the makers, 'Kalki 2898 AD' has gone past the Rs 900 crore gross mark at the worldwide box office.
Nag Ashwin's sci-fi epic ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is a mix of Hindu mythology set in a dystopian world where Amitabh Bachchan's character has made it his mission to save the unborn child of Deepika Padukone’s character.
For the unversed, 'Kalki 2898 AD' also features cameos by Dulquer Salmaan, SS Rajamouli, Mrunal Thakur, Ram Gopal Varma, and Vijay Deverakonda.
