Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-starrer 'Deadpool & Wolverine', released in cinemas worldwide on Friday (July 26), has set the global box office on fire. In India, the new Hollywood film is selling tickets like hotcakes, and it is reflected in the Day 1 collection. In the latest entertainment news, 'Deadpool & Wolverine', which marks the entry of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, earned Rs 21.50 crore across all languages on Day 1 in India. 

Of this Rs 21.50 crore, Rs 11.70 crore came in the English version while the Hindi version minted Rs 7.50 crore on Day 1. The Telugu and Tamil versions also contributed Rs 1.20 crore and Rs 1.10 crore, respectively.

'Deadpool & Wolverine' has now registered the biggest opening for a Hollywood film in 2024 in India, beating the previous best, registered by 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (Rs 12.60 crore). The new Hollywood film has also surpassed the opening day collection of Hindi movies such as 'Shaitaan' (Rs 14.75 crore), 'Crew' (Rs 9.25 crore), 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya' (Rs 6.7 crore), and 'Bad Newz' (Rs 8.30 crore).

As a result, 'Deadpool & Wolverine' now finds itself in the top six of all-time biggest Hollywood openings in India, after 'Avengers: Endgame' (Rs 53.10 crore), 'Avatar: The Way of Water' (Rs 40 crore), 'Spiderman: No Way Home' (Rs 32.67 crore), 'Avengers: Infinity War' (Rs 31.30 crore), and 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' (Rs 28.35 crore).

'Deadpool & Wolverine' will now be hoping to register solid growth over the weekend to register a phenomenal three-day total in India.

As per Variety, 'Deadpool & Wolverine' made USD 38.5 million in Thursday previews at the box office. This Thursday haul is now the biggest of the year, and it is also the highest preview gross ever for an R-rated movie. 

Dhanush's new Tamil film 'Raayan' was also released in cinemas on Friday (July 26), and as per Sacnilk, the newly-released film which has been directed by Dhanush himself, earned Rs 12.50 crore on the opening day of its release. 

Coming to Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk-starrer 'Bad Newz', which was released in cinemas last week, earned Rs 2 crore on Friday, the eighth day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 44.85 crore. 

Talking about Akshay Kumar's 'Sarfira', released in cinemas on July 12, minted Rs 0.19 crore on Friday, the 15th day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of the new Hindi movie now stands at Rs 22.74 crore.

Coming to Nag Ashwin's 'Kalki 2898 AD', starring Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani, the pan-India film minted Rs 1.25 crore on Friday (30th day of its release), as per Sacnilk. The total domestic film collection now stands at Rs 625.10 crore. The film now needs Rs 15 crore more to breach the domestic tally of Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan'.

Lastly, speaking of Raghav Juyal and Lakshya's 'Kill', which has been backed by Karan Johar and Guneet Monga, minted Rs 0.18 crore on Friday (the 23rd day of its release). As per Sacnilk, the total nett domestic collection of the film currently stands at Rs 21.88 crore.
