'Gadar 2' Surpasses Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan' To Script "New Record" At Domestic Box Office

Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma-starrer 'Gadar 2' released in theatres on August 11, and ever since hitting the cinema halls, the new Hindi movie, directed by Anil Sharma, has been on a record-breaking spree. The movie has surpassed the Rs 450 crore mark and in the latest entertainment news, 'Gadar 2 ' has surpassed Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan' to script a "new record" at the domestic box office.
'Gadar 2' is now the fastest Hindi movie to hit the Rs 450 crore mark, after achieving the feat in 17 days. Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham and Deepika-Padukone-starrer 'Pathaan' held the record as it had crossed the mark in 18 days.

As per industry tracker, 'Gadar 2' collected Rs 17 crore as per early estimates on Sunday (August 27), and the total nett collections of the movie stands at Rs 456.95 crore after 18 days.
SS Rajamouli's 'Baahubali: The Conclusion' had taken 20 days to cross the Rs 450 crore mark in India. As of now, 'Pathaan' is the highest-grossing Hindi movie in India with a collection of Rs 524 crore and it needs to be seen whether 'Gadar 2' manages to break this record or not.
Talking about 'Gadar 2' and Shah Rukh Khan, the latter did an #AskSRK session on Saturday on Twitter, now rebranded as X, and it was then that a user asked him about 'Gadar 2'.
When a fan asked SRK, "Gadar 2 dekhi aapne," and to this, the 'Pathaan' star replied: "Yeah loved it."
After this, director Anil Sharma and 'Gadar 2' star Utkarsh Sharma expressed their gratitude towards SRK.
Talking about 'Gadar 2', the plot of the movie revolves around a father Tara Singh (Sunny Deol), who would go to any length to bring back his son Jeete (Utkarsh Sharma) from Pakistan where he has been held captive by army general Hamid Iqbal (Manish Wadhwa).
‘Gadar 2’ is the sequel to the 2001 hit ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’, which was also directed by Anil Sharma. It was a blockbuster hit in 2001, when it clashed against the acclaimed hit ‘Lagaan’, which starred Aamir Khan. It finished with Rs 130 crore at the global box office.
‘Gadar 2’ also stars Manish Wadhwa, Gaurav Chopra, Simrat Kaur, Luv Sinha, Rakesh Bedi and Dolly Bindra. The popular songs from the 2001 original, ‘Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava’ and ‘Main Nikla Gaddi Leke’ have been recreated for ‘Gadar 2’.
