Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone's 'Fighter' Delivers Opening Of Rs 22 Crore, Way Less Than 'War' And 'Pathaan'
Hrithik Roshan, Anil Kapoor, and Deepika Padukone-starrer 'Fighter' delivered an opening of Rs 22 crore at the domestic box office.
Siddharth Anand's latest directorial 'Fighter', starring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, and Akshay Oberoi, released in theatres on Thursday and the movie opened to favourable reviews from critics and audiences. Considering the film hit the cinemas on a non-holiday, 'Fighter' has collected a reasonable amount at the domestic box office.
As per early estimates posted by industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Fighter' collected Rs 22 crore, across all versions at the domestic box office on Thursday. This opening is half of what Hrithik and Siddharth Anand's 'War' had collected on Day 1 of its release in 2019.
For the unversed, 'Fighter' had sold over Rs 8.4 crore worth of advance tickets before its release. The film has reportedly been made on a budget of Rs 250 crore.
Hrithik Roshan and Siddharth Anand have had a successful partnership over the years as they delivered hits in the form of 'Bang Bang' and 'War' earlier.
'Bang Bang' which was released in 2014, made Rs 27 crore on Day 1 while 'War' had collected Rs 53 crore on the opening day of its release.
Siddharth Anand's personal biggest debut remains 'Pathaan', which had made Rs 57 crore on the opening day of its release. Hrithik's biggest opening remains 'War'.
Talking about 'Fighter', the box office earnings of the film are expected to increase on Republic Day (Friday), which is a national holiday. The film will be targetting an opening weekend in the range of Rs 120-150 crore.
For the second day of its release, 'Fighter' has managed to sell 4,14,668 tickets so far, grossing Rs 13.12 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk.
‘Fighter’, presented by Viacom18 Studios in association with Marflix Pictures, is the third collaboration between Hrithik Roshan and Siddharth Anand after ‘Bang Bang’ and ‘War’. The new Hindi movie is also the third collaboration between Deepika Padukone and Siddharth Anand after ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ and ‘Pathaan’.
Earlier, Siddharth Anand admitted that the success of ‘Pathaan’, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, has set the bar too high for him and he is indeed feeling the “pressure of the expectations” from his audience.
It remains to be seen whether the movie manages to create the same magic as Siddharth Anand’s last release ‘Pathaan’.
