Nag Ashwin's sci-fi epic 'Kalki 2898 AD', starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan, is continuing to wreak havoc at the box office. In the latest entertainment news, the new pan-India film has gone past the Rs 200 crore mark inside threee days. Despite the T20 World Cup final between India and South Africa on Saturday evening, 'Kalki 2898 AD' did outstanding business at the box office.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Kalki 2898 AD' minted Rs 67.10 crore, across all languages on Saturday, the third day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 220 crore in India.
Out of this Rs 67.10 crore, Rs 27 crore came from the Hindi version while the Telugu version contributed Rs 32.25 crore. The Tamil and Malayalam versions contributed Rs 5 crore and Rs 2.4 crore, respectively. The Kannada version also contributed only Rs 0.45 crore, as per Sacnilk.
The Telugu total currently stands at Rs 126.90 crore while the Hindi version has so far collected Rs 72.50 crore. Globally, 'Kalki 2898 AD' has amassed Rs 298.50 crore in just two days, and the film will be looking to go past the Rs 500 crore in its opening weekend.
For the unversed, 'Kalki 2898 AD' collected Rs 95.30 crore on Thursday, followed by Rs 57.60 crore on Friday.
For the unversed, Nag Ashwin's sci-fi epic 'Kalki 2898 AD' is a mix of Hindu mythology set in a dystopian world where some people have made it their mission to save the unborn child of Deepika Padukone’s character.
The new pan-India film also features cameos by Vijay Deverakonda, Mrunal Thakur, Dulquer Salmaan, SS Rajamouli and Ram Gopal Varma.
Despite 'Kalki 2898 AD' release in cinemas, Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Chandu Champion’ and Sharvari Wagh, Abhay Verma and Mona Singh’s ‘Munjya’, continue to make slow and steady progress at the box office.
As per Sacnilk, Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Chandu Champion’ minted Rs 0.88 crore on Saturday, the 16th day of its release. The nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 57.13 crore.
On the other hand, ‘Munjya’ collected Rs 1.09 crore on Saturday, the 23rd day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of ‘Munjya’ now stands at Rs 92.74 crore.
Lastly, Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa's new Punjabi film 'Jatt & Juliet 3', which was released in cinemas on Thursday, minted Rs 4.10 crore on Saturday, the third day of its release. As per Sacnilk, the total three-day nett domestic collection now stands at Rs 11.20 crore.
