Prabhas, Deepika Padukone And Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ Goes Past Rs 350 Crore
'Kalki 2898 AD', starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan, witnessed a dip in collections on Tuesday but managed to cross the Rs 350 crore mark.
Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani-starrer ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ witnessed a major drop in collections on Tuesday. The progress of the film has slowed down considerably at the ticket counters. The Hindi version is now trending better than the Telugu version, and it remains to be seen whether the Nag Ashwin directorial manages to emerge as a blockbuster in the long run. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Kalki 2898 AD' minted Rs 27.85 crore on Tuesday, the sixth day of its release.
The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 371 crore, across all languages.
Out of this Rs 27.85 crore on Tuesday, Rs 14 crore came from the Hindi version, while the Telugu version contributed Rs 11.20 crore. The Tamil and Malayalam versions contributed Rs 1.2 crore and Rs 1.2 crore, respectively. The Kannada version also contributed only Rs 0.25 crore, as per Sacnilk.
The Telugu total now stands at Rs 193.20 crore, while the Hindi version has so far collected Rs 142 crore.
'Kalki 2898 AD' now needs to perform exceptionally well in order to achieve a blockbuster status for itself.
For the unversed, Nag Ashwin's sci-fi epic ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is a mix of Hindu mythology set in a dystopian world where some people have made it their mission to save the unborn child of Deepika Padukone’s character.
The new pan-India film also features cameos by Vijay Deverakonda, Mrunal Thakur, Dulquer Salmaan, SS Rajamouli and Ram Gopal Varma.
Considering 'Kalki 2898 AD' ends on a cliffhanger, a part 2 is inevitable. However, the makers have not revealed when the second part will be released.
The release of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has slowed down the progress of other movies such as ‘Chandu Champion’, ‘Munjya’, ‘Jatt & Juliet 3’, and ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’.
As per Sacnilk, Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Chandu Champion’ minted Rs 0.45 crore on Tuesday, the 19th day of its release. The nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 59.55 crore.
On the other hand, ‘Munjya’, starring Abhay Verma, Mona Singh and Sharvari Wagh, collected Rs 0.55 crore on Tuesday, the 26th day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of ‘Munjya’ now stands at Rs 96 crore.
Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa's new Punjabi film ‘Jatt & Juliet 3’, which was released in cinemas on Thursday, minted Rs 1.75 crore on Tuesday, the sixth day of its release. As per Sacnilk, the total six-day nett domestic collection now stands at Rs 20.50 crore.
