Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-starrer 'Mr & Mrs Mahi', which was released in cinemas on Friday, May 31, has gotten off to a fantastic start at the box office. Directed by Sharan Sharma, the film has received mixed reviews from the critics, but it looks like, the audience is a fan of the film. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Mr & Mrs Mahi', minted Rs 7 crore on the opening day of its release.
The film recorded an overall 56.15 per cent Hindi occupancy on Friday, as per Sacnilk.

'Mr & Mrs Mahi's release coincided with Cinema Lovers Day, and the audiences were able to watch the film in theatres at prices of Rs 99 and Rs 199. For the unversed, 'Mr & Mrs Mahi', was not the only film to be released in cinemas on Friday. Other films that are released on the same day, are Divya Khossla’s 'Savi' and children’s action-animation film 'Chhota Bheem and the Curse of Damyaan'.
For the unversed, Rajkummar Rao's 'Srikanth', which is still running in cinemas, had earned Rs 2.25 crore on the opening day of its release. Talking about Rajkummar Rao, Jyotika and Sharad Kelkar-starrer 'Srikanth', released in cinemas on May 10, minted Rs 1.35 crore on Friday, the 22nd day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of 'Srikanth' now stands at Rs 41.75 crore.
Returning to 'Mr & Mrs Mahi, the film tells the love story of a couple, ardent fans of former India captain MS Dhoni. The movie is a love story, centered around the sport of cricket.
‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’ also stars Abhishek Banerjee, Rajesh Sharma, Kumud Mishra, Zarina Wahab, and Purnendu Bhattacharya. The new Hindi movie is directed by Sharan Sharma, who made his directorial debut with ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’, which starred Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role.
‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’ is backed by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, and Apoorva Mehta.
On the work front, Rajkummar Rao will be next seen alongside Shraddha Kapoor in ‘Stree 2’ and ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’, co-starring Triptii Dimri.
Janhvi Kapoor, on the other hand, will be next seen in ‘Ulajh’, which will hit the theatres on July 5. She will also mark her Telugu debut with ‘Devara: Part 1’, co-starring Jr NTR and Saif Ali Khan.
She also has ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ alongside Varun Dhawan in the pipeline. Janhvi Kapoor will also be seen opposite Ram Charan in his next untitled film.
