Janhvi Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao’s ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’ Remains Steady, Inches Closer To Rs 25 Crore Mark

Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-starrer 'Mr & Mrs Mahi', which was released in theatres on May 31, is on its way to emerge as a success story at the box office. The Sharan Sharma directorial is managing to remain steady at the ticket counters. And as a result, the new Hindi movie is nearing the Rs 25 crore mark in India. Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor’s film should be able to breach this mark by the end of this week.

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’ minted Rs 2.10 crore on Tuesday, the fifth day of its release. The movie just showed a marginal drop on Tuesday, after minting Rs 2.15 crore the previous day on Monday.

The nett domestic collection of ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’ now stands at Rs 21.10 crore. On Tuesday, the film had an overall Hindi occupancy of 10.60 per cent.

With virtually no major release lined up till June 14 (Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Chandu Champion’), ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’ is expected to collect money at a steady pace and record a decent lifetime total.

The immediate release that ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’ will face is Sharvari Wagh and Mona Singh-starrer horror comedy 'Munjya', set to release in cinemas on Friday, June 7.

'Mr & Mrs Mahi' tells the love story of a couple, who find love, after discovering their passion for the sport of cricket. The film has a reported budget of Rs 40 crore, hence, the movie needs to maintain its pace over the coming days.

Apart from Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor, the new Hindi movie also stars Abhishek Banerjee, Rajesh Sharma, Kumud Mishra, Zarina Wahab, and Purnendu Bhattacharya.

'Mr & Mrs Mahi' is helmed by Sharan Sharma, who made his directorial debut with ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’.

Talking about Rajkummar Rao's ‘Srikanth’, which was released in cinemas on May 10, collected Rs 0.35 crore on Tuesday, the 26th day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 44.95 crore.

For the unversed, ‘Srikanth’ also stars Alaya F, Sharad Kelkar and Jyotika. In the film, Rajkummar Rao portrays the role of Srikanth Bolla, an industrialist who fearlessly pursued his dreams despite his visual impairment.
