Sharvari Wagh, Mona Singh and Abhay Verma's horror-comedy 'Munjya' is witnessing a remarkable trend at the box office. The new Hindi movie has managed to make the most out its opening weekend. As per early estimates posted by industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Munjya' managed to rake in Rs 7.75 crore on Sunday, the third day of its release. As a result, the three-day nett domestic collection now stands at Rs 19 crore. For the unversed, 'Munjya' earned Rs 4 crore on Friday.
The new Hindi movie then witnessed an amazing 81.25 per cent increase in its collection on Saturday, minting Rs 7.25 crore.
‘Munjya’ had an overall 36.64 per cent Hindi occupancy on Sunday, with maximum occupancy of 52.23 percent seen in evening shows, as per Sacnilk.
The film then further witnessed a jump in its collection on Sunday with Rs 7.75 crore. With this performance, 'Munjya' has managed to surpass Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-starrer 'Mr & Mrs Mahi'.
‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’ minted Rs 16.85 crore in its opening weekend, while 'Munjya' has raked in Rs 19 crore within the same time frame.
It is important to mention that ‘Munjya’ has performed better than movies like ‘Srikanth’, ‘Madgaon Express’ and ‘Laapataa Ladies’.
Talking about 'Mr & Mrs Mahi', which released in cinemas on May 31, earned Rs 2.15 crore on Sunday, the tenth day of its release. The total ten-day collection now stands at Rs 30.05 crore.
'Mr & Mrs Mahi' tells the love story of a couple, who find love, after discovering their passion for the sport of cricket. The film has a reported budget of Rs 40 crore.
Talking about Rajkummar Rao's ‘Srikanth’, which was released in cinemas on May 10, collected Rs 0.43 crore on Sunday, the 31st day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 46.88 crore.
For the unversed, ‘Srikanth’ also stars Alaya F, Sharad Kelkar and Jyotika. In the film, Rajkummar Rao portrays the role of Srikanth Bolla, an industrialist who fearlessly pursued his dreams despite his visual impairment.
