Prabhas' 'Kalki 2898 AD' On Day 16 Performs Better Than Akshay Kumar's 'Sarfira' On Day 1
'Kalki 2898 AD' performed better than Akshay Kumar's 'Sarfira' at the box office.
Despite facing competition from Kamal Haasan's 'Indian 2' and Akshay Kumar's 'Sarfira', Nag Ashwin's 'Kalki 2898 AD', starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani, has managed to come out on top at the box office. In the latest entertainment news, as per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Kalki 2898 AD' on Friday (day 16 of its release) minted Rs 5.25 crore, across all languages. Out of this 5.25 crore, Rs 3.25 crore from the Hindi version while the Telugu version contributed Rs 1.40 crore.
The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 548.60 crore. The Hindi version currently stands at Rs 236.15 crore while the Telugu version has so far minted Rs 255.15 crore.
As per trade analyst Ramesh Bala, 'Kalki 2898 AD' has now gone past Rs 1,000 crore worldwide mark.
Speaking of Akshay Kumar's 'Sarfira', the film has taken a disappointing opening, as the new Hindi movie was able to collect just Rs 2.40 crore on the opening day. Despite positive reviews from critics, the film was not able to find many takers at the box office.
'Sarfira' is Akshay Kumar's weakest opening in years. His previous releases such as 'Selfiee' and 'Mission Raniranj' had collected Rs 2.55 crore and Rs 2.80 crore on the opening day, respectively.
Speaking of Shankar's 'Indian 2', starring Kamal Haasan, the new Tamil film minted Rs 26 crore on the opening day, across all languages, as per Sacnilk. Out of this Rs 26 crore, Rs 17 crore came from the Tamil version while the Telugu and Hindi languages contributed Rs 7.9 crore and Rs 1.1 crore, respectively.
'Indian 2' has been panned by critics, and it needs to be seen whether the film manages to show any growth over the weekend or not.
Lastly, speaking about Lakshya and Raghav Juyal's 'Kill', which was released in cinemas last week, minted Rs 0.80 crore on Friday, the 8th day of its release. As per Sacnilk, the total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 11.90 crore.
