Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer 'Sikandar' was touted to be the next big Bollywood blockbuster. However, the initial reception to the film has been cold and the road ahead seems to be a bumpy ride for the AR Murugadoss directorial. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Sikandar' earned Rs 29 crore on Monday, the second day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 55 crore. For the unversed, 'Sikandar' had collected Rs 26 crore on the opening day of its release.

The project, which has been backed by Sajid Nadiadwala, opened to negative reviews from critics and even ardent fans of Salman are expressing their displeasure with the film on social media.

The current box office collection of ‘Sikandar’ is better than Salman Khan's 2024 release 'Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan' (Rs 39 crore in two days), but it pales in comparison to 'Tiger 3' (Rs 104 crore in two days).

On the second day of its release, 'Sikandar' had an occupancy of around 24.6 percent across the country. 'Sikandar' released in cinemas on Sunday (March 30).

The new Hindi movie’s collection is disappointing when one compares it to 2023 hits like 'Pathaan', 'Jawan', 'Gadar 2', and 'Animal'.

The first two days’ collection of ‘Sikandar’ is also lower than Vicky Kaushal's 'Chhaava'. The latter had earned Rs 68 crore in the first two days, even when it wasn’t a holiday release.

The Hindi landscape in 2025 has seen only one hit and that is Vicky Kaushal's 'Chhaava', which is nearing the Rs 600 crore mark in India.

'Sikandar' is also facing tough competition from Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran's 'L2: Empuraan'. The new Malayalam film earned Rs 11 crore on Monday, the fifth day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 70 crore.

'Sikandar' also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Anjini Dhawan, Sharman Joshi and Sathyaraj.

Earlier, Salman Khan revealed the status of another film he is working on. The Bollywood superstar stated that he will soon be starring in a movie alongside Sanjay Dutt.

"I'm doing another big action film after Sikandar. There the action is on another level. That's rustic action," he said.

"I'm doing it with my elder brother in the industry...Sanjay Dutt," he added. Salman, however, added that the director and producer for the film have not been finalised yet.
