King Khan Reigns Supreme! SRK’s ‘Dunki’ Enters Rs 200 Crore Club In India

Rajkumar Hirani’s latest directorial venture ‘Dunki’, starring Shah Rukh Khan, has gone past the Rs 200 crore mark in India.

Shah Rukh Khan, who made a successful comeback in 2023 with ‘Pathaan’, went on to deliver the biggest hit of his decades-long career in the form of ‘Jawan’, which also became the highest-grossing Hindi movie of all time. His third release of 2023, ‘Dunki’, has been minting money at a steady pace at the box office. However, the Rajkumar Hirani directorial witnessed its steepest fall in collections post the Holiday season on Tuesday. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Dunki’, which also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, Anil Grover and Vikram Kochhar, minted Rs 3.85 crore on Tuesday.

This is the lowest single-day haul for ‘Dunki’. But even after witnessing a dip in its collections, the new Hindi movie has managed to cross the Rs 200 crore mark in India. The total nett domestic collection of ‘Dunki’, which marks Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani’s maiden collaboration, currently stands at Rs 200.62 crore.

Globally, ‘Dunki’ has gone past the Rs 400 crore mark. The film is expected to overtake the lifetime global collection of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Chennai Express’. For the unversed, the Rohit Shetty directorial had minted Rs 423 crore worldwide.

‘Dunki’ has already overtaken the lifetime collection of SRK's previous releases – ‘Raees’ and ‘Happy New Year’.

For the unversed, ‘Dunki’ had released in theatres on December 21, a day ahead of Prabhas’ ‘Salaar: Part One – Ceasefire’.

Talking about ‘Salaar’, the film has been directed by Prashanth Neel and also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shruti Haasan. The new film minted Rs 7.50 crore across all languages on Tuesday, which was the 12th day of its release.

The total nett domestic collection of ‘Salaar’ now stands at Rs 369.37 crore, as per Sacnilk. ‘Salaar’ has gone past the domestic collection of Rajinikanth's ‘Jailer’, which had minted Rs 348.55 crore in India.

The worldwide collection of ‘Salaar’ till Monday was reported to be Rs 627.19 crore, surpassing both Vijay’s ‘Leo’ (Rs 605.9 crore) and ‘Jailer’ (Rs 604.5 crore).

It is important to mention that ‘Dunki’ released in theatres in just Hindi, while ‘Salaar’ arrived in the cinema halls in five languages -- Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada.
