Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’ Nears Rs 450 Crore Mark Globally, Prabhas’ ‘Salaar’ Beats Worldwide Collection Of ‘Gadar 2’
‘Dunki’ and ‘Salaar: Part One – Ceasefire’, which released in theatres in December 2023, are continuing to mint money at the global box office.

While their domestic collections have declined drastically in the past few days, they are still raking in the moolah at the global box office. Rajkumar Hirani's ‘Dunki’, which also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, Anil Grover and Vikram Kochhar, minted Rs 1.60 crore in India on Monday, as per early estimates posted by industry tracker Sacnilk.
The total nett domestic collection of ‘Dunki’ now stands at Rs 218 crore, and the film is looking to go past the collection of SRK's ‘Chennai Express’ in India. For the unversed, Rohit Shetty's ‘Chennai Express’ had made Rs 227 crore in India.
Globally, ‘Dunki’ (Rs 445 crore) has already surpassed the collection of ‘Chennai Express’ (Rs 422 crore). As a result, ‘Dunki’ is now SRK's third-biggest hit globally after 'Jawan' and 'Pathaan'.
In terms of worldwide collection, 'Dunki' is now aiming to compete with Salman Khan's 'Tiger 3', which made Rs 464 crore at the global box office. 'Tiger 3' was made on a reported budget of Rs 300 crore, while 'Dunki' is rumoured to be made on a controlled budget of Rs 100 crore.
Meanwhile, Prashanth Neel's 'Salaar', which also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shruti Haasan, minted Rs 2.25 crore on Monday, as per industry tracker Sacnilk.
The total nett domestic collection of 'Salaar' now stands at Rs 395.5 crore. With this, 'Salaar' has now entered the list of the top 10 highest-earning films in India, leaving behind James Cameron's 'Avatar: The Way of Water' (Rs 391.4 crore) and Aamir Khan’s 'Dangal' (Rs 387.38 crore).
However, 'Salaar' will have a tough time to beat Rajinikanth's '2.0' collections due to upcoming Makar Sankranti releases.
The major releases this Makar Sankranti include Mahesh Babu’s 'Guntur Kaaram', Venkatesh Daggubati’s 'Saindhav', and Prashanth Varma’s 'HanuMan'. Dhanush-starrer 'Captain Miller' and Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif’s ‘Merry Christmas’ is also releasing in theatres on January 12, 2024.
Globally, 'Salaar' has made Rs 687.51 crore, and hence it has gone past Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel's 'Gadar 2', which had made Rs 686 crore worldwide. The cast and crew of 'Salaar' had recently celebrated the film's success.
They held a small celebration and it was attended by founders of Hombale Films, Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda, director Prashanth Neel, Prabhas, and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
