Even a working Wednesday couldn’t slow down Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s ‘Gadar 2. The new Hindi movie, directed by Anil Sharma, collected Rs 34.50 crore at the box office on Wednesday, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. With the latest box office collection, the new Bollywood movie has crossed the Rs 250 crore mark in less than a week. The new Hindi movie, also starring Utkarsh Sharma, has been shattering several box office records ever since it released on August 11. In the latest entertainment news, ‘Gadar 2’ became the first Hindi film to earn Rs 30 crore+ for six consecutive days.

With Wednesday’s collection, the total domestic nett collection of ‘Gadar 2’ stands at Rs 263.48 crore.

While the film is still in its first week in theatres, it has already become the second-highest domestic grosser of the year, after Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’. SRK’s comeback film, also starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, made Rs 543.05 crore in India. ‘Gadar 2’ has already the lifetime collection of Adah Sharma-starrer ‘The Kerala Story’, which minted a total of Rs 242.20 crore.

On its opening day, ‘Gadar 2’ minted Rs 40.1 crore. It has been performing exceedingly well at the cinemas despite competition from Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi’s ‘OMG 2’, which was released on the same day, and Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, which released on July 28.

Meanwhile, ‘OMG 2’, also starring Yami Gautam, crossed the Rs 100 crore gross mark globally on Wednesday. After a decent Rs 10 crore opening, the film gained traction with positive word of mouth.

The new Hindi movie made Rs 7.75 crore on Wednesday, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The total collection of the film now stands at Rs 80 crore.

The first ‘Gadar’, also directed by Anil Sharma, was a blockbuster in 2001, when it clashed against the acclaimed hit ‘Lagaan’, which starred Aamir Khan. It finished with Rs 130 crore at the global box office.

‘Gadar 2’ not just marks return of Ameesha Patel and Sunny Deol but also child actor Utkarsh Sharma. The latter is now 29 and plays Tara Singh and Sakeena's son in ‘Gadar 2’ as well.

It is set in the backdrop of the ‘Crush India’ campaign in 1971. It revolves around Tara Singh's efforts to free Charanjeet from Pakistan when he is captured by their army.

‘Gadar 2’ also stars Manish Wadhwa, Gaurav Chopra, Simrat Kaur, Luv Sinha, Rakesh Bedi and Dolly Bindra. The popular songs from the 2001 original, ‘Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava’ and ‘Main Nikla Gaddi Leke’ have been reprised in ‘Gadar 2’.
