Tom Cruise’s ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ Becomes Highest Hollywood Opener Of 2025 In India
‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ maintained a steady momentum at the Indian box office with Rs 33.5 crore in two days.
Tom Cruise’s ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ may have opened below expectations in India, but it quickly gained momentum through the weekend, proving to be a strong contender at the box office. According to Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 16.5 crore on its opening day (Saturday) and held steady with Rs 17 crore on Sunday, bringing its two-day domestic total to Rs 33.5 crore. Globally, the action-packed thriller has already raked in Rs 100 crore. Interestingly, the film hit Indian theatres nearly a week before its international release slated for May 23.
The English version saw the highest occupancy in India at 41.84 percent, followed by Tamil at an impressive 51.25 percent. Hindi versions recorded 25.28 percent, while Telugu drew 19.44 percent.
Despite a modest opening, ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ has emerged as the highest Hollywood opener of 2025 in India so far. It has already outperformed recent Marvel releases including ‘Captain America: Brave New World’, which managed Rs 8.2 crore in two days, and ‘Thunderbolts’, which collected Rs 5.85 crore during the same period. In fact, the Tom Cruise-starrer overtook Thunderbolts’ total Indian lifetime collection of Rs 22.39 crore within just two days of release. It also left behind ‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’, which opened on May 16 and earned Rs 9.85 crore in two days.
The film has also surpassed its own franchise’s previous records in India. ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’ and ‘Fallout’ had earned Rs 21.15 crore and Rs 23 crore respectively over their first two days. This latest installment has comfortably outpaced both.
When compared to domestic box office performances, ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ continues to impress. It edged out Ajay Devgn’s ‘Raid 2’, which earned Rs 31.25 crore in its opening two days. It also outperformed Akshay Kumar’s ‘Kesari 2’ (Rs 17.50 crore) and Sunny Deol’s ‘Jaat’ (Rs 16.5 crore), making it a rare Hollywood film to beat several big-ticket Hindi releases on their home turf.
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the film is rumoured to mark Tom Cruise’s final outing as Ethan Hunt. The ensemble cast includes Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Henry Czerny, Angela Bassett, Pom Klementieff, and Mariela Garriga.
