Nag Ashwin's mythological sci-fi epic 'Kalki 2898 AD', starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani, released in cinemas on Thursday (June 27), and the internet cannot stop raving about the film. 'Kalki 2898 AD' has emerged as a rare project that is being loved by the audiences, and the same is translating into box office numbers. 'Kalki 2898 AD' registered a monumental opening and as a result, the new pan-India film has managed to enter the list of biggest Indian openers of all time.

As per the makers, 'Kalki 2898 AD' registered a gross box office collection of Rs 191.5 crore, worldwide. 

The official social media handle of 'Kalki 2898 AD' shared the update, with the caption, "Let's celebrate cinema. #Kalki2898AD #EpicBlockbusterKalki."

'Kalki 2898 AD' is now at the third spot in the list of the top ten biggest Indian openers of all time (worldwide gross box office collection). Want to know the entire list, then we have you covered.

1. RRR (Rs 223.5 crore) 

2. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 214.5 crore)

6. Leo (Rs 142.8 crore)

The other films to register a worldwide opening of more than Rs 100 crore are Rajinikanth's 2.0 (Rs 105.6 crore) and Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham's 'Pathaan' (Rs 104.8 crore)

In the above-mentioned list, five movies star Prabhas, and this just proves why the actor is possibly the biggest pan-India superstar in the country right now.

The top five films also belong to South Indian filmmakers. The only Hindi movies on the list are 'Adipurush', 'Jawan', and 'Animal'. 

Coming back to 'Kalki 2898 AD', the film is a mix of Hindu mythology set in a dystopian world where some people are on a mission to save the unborn child of Deepika Padukone’s character. 

The unborn child is believed to be Kalki, the avatar of Lord Vishnu.

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ also features cameos by Vijay Deverakonda, Mrunal Thakur, Dulquer Salmaan, SS Rajamouli, and Ram Gopal Varma.
