Will Prabhas' 'Kalki 2898 AD' Go Past Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan'?
'Kalki 2898 AD' needs Rs 18 crore to go past the lifetime collection of Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan'.
Nag Ashwin's science-fiction epic 'Kalki 2898 AD', starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani, has turned out to be a box office juggernaut. The new pan-India film, which released in cinemas in June, has recently managed to brave competition from new releases such as 'Bad Newz', 'Sarfira' and 'Indian 2'. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Kalki 2898 AD' minted Rs 1.60 crore on Wednesday, the 28th day of its release.
The total nett domestic collection of 'Kalki 2898 AD', across all languages, currently stands at Rs 622.10 crore. The film now needs nearly Rs 18 crore more to go past the domestic collection of Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan', which released in cinemas in September 2023.
For the unversed, on the 28th day of its release, 'Jawan' had minted Rs 2.05 crore while 'Kalki 2898 AD' earned Rs 1.60 crore.
'Kalki 2898 AD' now needs to brave competition from 'Deadpool & Wolverine', starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Looking at the advance booking trend of the new Hollywood film, it is safe to assume that 'Kalki 2898 AD' is now in the last leg of its theatrical run.
It remains to be seen whether 'Kalki 2898 AD' has enough legs to breach the collection of 'Jawan' or not.
Globally, 'Kalki 2898 AD' has already gone past the Rs 1,000 crore mark, as per the makers.
Nag Ashwin's sci-fi epic ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is a mix of Hindu mythology set in a dystopian world where Amitabh Bachchan's character has made it his mission to save the unborn child of Deepika Padukone’s character.
For the unversed, 'Kalki 2898 AD' also features cameos by Dulquer Salmaan, SS Rajamouli, Mrunal Thakur, Ram Gopal Varma, and Vijay Deverakonda.
'Kalki 2898 AD' has already become the second-most successful film of Prabhas' career after 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion', directed by SS Rajamouli.
