Did You Know: History Behind 'Animal's Viral Song 'Arjan Vaily'
'Animal's song 'Arjan Vaily' has been going viral on the internet. But did you know the deep connection the track has with Sikh history?
'Animal', starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor, finally released in theatres on Friday (December 1), and it is fair to say that the new Hindi movie has received a tremendous response. The Sandeep Reddy Vanga-directorial is doing wonders at the box office, and it is turning out to be mass hysteria. The songs of the movie have also done wonders for the film, but nothing has worked like the track 'Arjan Vaily'.
Everyone seems to be singing the Punjabi track, even if they cannot say the words properly. However, did you know that the song 'Arjan Vaily' is very closely connected to Sikh history?
For the unversed, 'Arjan Vaily' has been originally composed by legendary Punjabi singer Kuldeep Manak and the song paints a brave image of Arjan Singh Nalwa, who was the son of Sikh military commander Hari Singh Nalwa.
The track is based on the life of the braveheart and it talks about the time when Hari Singh Nalwa was serving as a commander-in-chief for the Sikh Empire’s armies in the early 19th century.
During that time, Hari Singh Nalwa's son Arjan who was born in Jagraon (present day Ludhiana) went ahead with the war for the Sikh Empire against the Mughals and the mounting British rule in India, after his father’s demise.
The lyrics of the track perfectly explain a huge battle being fought with courage by Arjan Singh with his kirpaan, axe and other weapons.
For the uninitiated, 'Arjan Vaily' song in 'Animal' has been written and sung by a popular Punjabi artist, Bhupinder Bhabbal.
Talking about 'Animal', the new Hindi movie saw very good advance booking for the opening weekend, despite getting an 'A' (adults only) certificate. Not to forget, the movie is also clashing with Vicky Kaushal-starrer 'Sam Bahadur'.
'Sam Bahadur' has been directed by Meghna Gulzar, and it also stars Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra. The movie is based on the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.
